<strong>Orientation</strong> <strong>Leader</strong> (<strong>OL</strong>) <strong>–</strong> <strong>JOB</strong> <strong>DESCRIPTION</strong> 2012-2013<br />
<strong>Orientation</strong> <strong>Leader</strong>s (<strong>OL</strong>) assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of all aspects of<br />
the New Student <strong>Orientation</strong> Program. They are frequently required to cooperate with others and<br />
to sometimes subordinate their immediate needs and motivations for the purpose of building a<br />
team which is able to successfully deal with the responsibilities it has to new students and their<br />
families. <strong>Orientation</strong> involves constant change, reorganization, and evaluation. An <strong>OL</strong> must be<br />
flexible and always ready and willing to make decisions, accept new tasks or take on additional<br />
responsibilities.<br />
Qualifications:<br />
Maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average through June 2013.<br />
Be in good judicial standing with the <strong>College</strong>.<br />
Possess good communication skills.<br />
Be reliable, responsible, confident, flexible, and able to manage time well.<br />
Display willingness and enjoyment for helping and working with other people.<br />
Demonstrates a desire to learn and share knowledge about <strong>Hartwick</strong>, its individual<br />
programs, its regulations, its people and its services.<br />
Be classified as a full-time student with the <strong>College</strong> and be registered for 2013 Fall<br />
classes.<br />
May not hold other employment or participate in other activities as designated on the<br />
timeline to attend required training and development and <strong>Orientation</strong> sessions.<br />

<strong>Orientation</strong> <strong>Leader</strong> (<strong>OL</strong>) <strong>–</strong> <strong>JOB</strong> <strong>DESCRIPTION</strong> 2012-2013<br />
<strong>Orientation</strong> <strong>Leader</strong> Role Description:<br />
Attend and participate in all training activities during the week prior to new student<br />
arrival.<br />
Serve as a role model for new students by displaying the responsibility and maturity of an<br />
upper-class student.<br />
Display initiative, interest and enthusiasm in assisting new students and families.<br />
Serve as a peer advisor and resource person to acquaint new students with the <strong>Hartwick</strong><br />
campus, its people, services and activities.<br />
Lead new students in understanding academic responsibilities.<br />
Assist CSS Staff with all aspects of the orientation program, including preparation of<br />
materials, implementation of programs and activities, check in and other assigned duties.<br />
Team Coordinator Role Description:<br />
All items listed in above section “<strong>Orientation</strong> <strong>Leader</strong> Role Description” as well as the<br />
following:<br />
o Attend and participate in all TC training activities prior to <strong>OL</strong> arrival.<br />
o Serve as a positive role model for <strong>OL</strong>s, assisting with and encouraging responsible<br />
decision-making.<br />
o Organize, coordinate and communicate with respective offices and <strong>College</strong><br />
representatives.<br />
o Work with staff to assess and address needs for <strong>OL</strong> team; hold peers accountable<br />
and responsible for duties and tasks; be willing to address peers as deemed<br />
necessary.<br />

Compensation:<br />
Stipend of $400 (<strong>OL</strong>); $450(TC) (minus appropriate taxes).<br />
Meals provided during training and orientation days only.<br />
Housing provided on campus from (Saturday, May 25 for TC) Monday, May 27-<br />
Thursday, June 13.
