Purple Reign Cattle Co., Toulon, Ill., bred the top
female and bull at the 2009 Keystone International
Livestock Exposition (KILE) in Harrisburg, Pa., Oct. 2.
Chan Phillips, Mays Lick, Ky., judged the 179-head show and
said he was impressed with the depth
of quality in each class.

slapped overall champion female
after winning the junior yearling
female division. Nastia, a Feb.
2008 daughter of LaGrand Reload
80P ET, was bred by Purple Reign

Cattle Co. and is owned by Dennis
Hartman, Jerseyville, Ill. Phillips
followed with the champion intermediate female as reserve
overall. Showtime Karlie 867 is a May 2008 daughter of
Ramsey’s Firewall and was shown by Hunter Hamilton,
Heltonville, Ind. Karlie was bred by Showtime Cattle Co.,
Greenfield, Ind.
A Purple Reign-bred bull won the bull show as well.
Purple MB Womanizer 14U ET, is a March 2008 son of
CH Enuff Prophet 2913. Womanizer is co-owned by Purple
Reign and Hansmeier & Son Inc., Bristol, S.D. Reserve
champion overall bull was SPF 262S Wildcat Willie 01W.
Wildcat Willie, bred-and-owned by Spring Pond Farm II,
Branchport, N.Y., was the champion junior bull calf and is
sired by KJ 068J Manhattan 262S.
In the cow-calf show, STAR 19R Carlene 137T ET was
chosen champion. She is by SB 122L Git-R-Done 19R ET
and showed with a March heifer calf at side. The pair was
bred by Star Lake Cattle Ranch, Skiatook, Okla., and is
co-owned with Andre Howe, Wagontown, Pa. NS Lady R
646 was named reserve champion cow, with a February
bull calf at side. Lady, by Blair-Athol 20 The Rock ET
19M, was bred by Stockdale Hereford Farm, Dayton, Pa.,

Keystone Sale Averages $2,166
A good-sized crowd was on hand for the Keystone National Hereford Sale Oct. 1,
2009. This sale is held in conjunction with the Keystone National Hereford Show in
Harrisburg, Pa.
When Kevin Wendt silenced the gavel, six heifers had gathered $13,000 to average
$2,166 and six embryos had averaged $363.
Highlighting the auction was a donated embryo lot from Deana Jak Farms Inc., New
Enterprise, Pa. This lot included three embryos from the Hereford Youth Foundation
of America (HYFA) heifer STAR 29F Bethany 2T ET and sire STAR NK Platinum 508T
ET. On the first sale of this lot, the embryos gathered $2,400. Buyers included Four
L Hereford Farm, Atwood, Tenn.; Cassie Lyons, Hookstown, Pa.; TYME Cattle Co., W.
Burlington, N.Y.; Lowderman Cattle Co., Macomb, Ill.; Grass Pond Farm, Greendell, N.J.;
C&L Hereford Ranch, Ixonia, Wis.; Dunn Polled Herefords, Cochranton, Pa.; Hausner
Cattle Co., Thomasville, Pa.; Far Away Farm, Glenmoore, Pa.; Four Winds Farm, Berlin,
Conn.; Shepherds View Farm, Bridgeville Del.; and Paul Slayton, Bedford, Pa. The lot
was donated back and this time sold for $975 to Four Winds Farm. The proceeds of this
lot were split between the Pennsylvania Junior Hereford Projects and HYFA.
Topping the sale at $3,900 was Lot 9, Purple Tonic’s Cotton 16V, a March 2, 2009,
heifer sired by Purple Tonic 10M and consigned by Purple Reign Cattle Co., Toulon, Ill.
Taylor Dieball, Little River, Kan., entered the Hereford business with this fine female.
Helms Polled Herefords, New Enterprise, Pa., consigned HPH Western Gal 755 9003,
a March 7, 2009, heifer sired by UPS Domino 3027. Whispering Wind Farm, Center
Conway, N.H., purchased this lot at $2,600.
Rounding out the high sellers at $2,400 was Lot 14 from Four L Hereford Farm,
Atwood, Tenn. Four L 7055 Haley 9071W ET, an April 11, 2009, heifer by BR DM CSF
Wallace ET, gathered the attention of Courtney Smith, Northampton, Pa.
