<strong>Job</strong> Title: Children’s Pastor<br />

Reports To: Life Stage Ministries Pastor<br />

Direct Reports: Directors of Early Childhood, Kid’s Church, & Elementary Discipleship<br />

Effective Date: January 7, 2010<br />

Summary<br />

The Children’s Pastor is responsible for the vision, development and oversight of all areas in children’s<br />

ministries through administration, leadership development, servant volunteer assimilation, teaching of<br />

Biblical truths, discipleship, and evangelistic outreach opportunities.<br />

Duties & Responsibilities<br />

The following list of duties and responsibilities is intended to serve as a guide to what is expected of the<br />

Children’s Pastor.<br />

Supervise and lead all Directors of Children’s Ministries. This includes:<br />

o Providing day-to-day management and supervision of directors.<br />

o Establishing functional plans for each director defining their duties, responsibilities and<br />

performance expectations.<br />

o Providing performance coaching to ensure directors understand expectations and are<br />

prepared to meet their goals.<br />

o Meeting regularly with directors to provide feedback on performance and to complete<br />

annual reviews for direct reports.<br />

o Developing and implementing standard procedures for assessing achievement of the<br />

defined goals and objectives for each director.<br />

o Providing coaching to help the directors in their leadership of their department heads.<br />

o Providing coaching to help the directors recruit, train, and place children’s volunteers.<br />

o Managing the overall children’s budget along with the departmental budgets with<br />

directors.<br />

o Leading Director’s meetings and working with other members of the Children’s<br />

Ministries Team in the vision for Children’s Ministries.<br />

o Planning evangelistic & outreach events with the team to reach children with the love<br />

of Jesus.<br />

o Working closely with the Children’s Administrative Assistant to ensure effective<br />

communication and delegation throughout all ministries.<br />

Oversee/lead Kid’s Church environment. This includes:<br />

o Working collaboratively with the Kid’s Church “Interim” Director in all areas.<br />

o Serving as point person for all necessary decisions directly related to this area.<br />

o Scheduling the teaching team for weekend services. This position will be the primary<br />

communicator if no one is scheduled.<br />

o Ordering weekend service and annual event curriculum.<br />

o Equipping staff (paid and volunteers) to be effective in all areas of their responsibilities.<br />

o Recruiting volunteers to serve during weekends or Kid’s Church events.<br />

o Monitoring the delivery of ministry activities to assure excellence.<br />

Function as an employee of Timberline Church with a servant’s heart and a willingness to<br />

minister to people inside and outside of Timberline Church as needed.<br />

o Fill Pastor on Call and hospital visitation shifts as needed.<br />

Serve the members of the church and the community in times of crisis and need.<br />

Abide by the Timberline Church Ministry Covenant.<br />

Time Commitment<br />

The following is an estimate of the time that the individual serving in this position will typically need to<br />

perform the job in an exemplary manner:<br />

This is a permanent, full-time position.<br />

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, and serve during evenings and weekends as<br />

necessary.<br />
