Thoracic Surgery &
Pneumology

The use of laser technology in Thoracic Surgery
and Pneumology has proven to be clinically effec-
tive and beneficial for the patients.
In recent years, new developments in laser
techno logy using state-of-the-art semiconductor
diode lasers, delivered high power systems using
1350 nm wavelength which has proved to be ideal
for parenchymal tissues. Furthermore the wave-
length of 1470 nm shows excellent results in the
bronchial palliative treatments for Pneumology.
Following the tradition to pioneer new minimally
invasive treatments, biolitec® has combined the
most cost effective and reliable lasers with high
quality fiber optics and instruments to make the
procedures safer and more cost effective for the
health care professional with excellent standard of
care for the patients.
Our high-power diode lasers are available with a range of different wavelengths and
maximum powers to cover different applications. In Thoracic Surgery the 1350nm wave-
length provides best results in cutting, coagulating and sealing of parenchymal tissue.
In Pneumology an even better absorption of laser energy in water is desirable. That’s
the reason why some Pneumologists prefer our 1470nm wavelength in this field.
aDvantages of Biolitec® laser
User friendly
Multidisciplinary use (Thoracic Surgery,
Pneumology, Visceral Surgery)
Easy to set-up (no additional external cooling
or high voltage requirements)
Portable unit and low footprint
in operating theatre
Reliable diode technology
Low maintenance cost

1350nm – the wavelength
of your choice in thoracic surgery
Water Hemoglobin
1350
1470
1350nm - the appropriate wavelength for parenchymal tissue
Due to high water content of parenchymal tissue and low density of tissue the
absorption rate of water and haemoglobin of laser energy with wavelength
1350nm is proven to provide best results in Thoracic Surgery. Due to its high
absorption in water Ceralas® HPD laser avoids accidently firing into surrounding w
thoracic and bronchial areas.
1350nm diode laser achieves high ablation rates of lung and tumor tissues
while keeping a low and elastic coagulation zone to minimize post-operative
side effects on lung tissue.
Benefits
Cut and coagulate simultaneously
Sealing properties provide smooth tissue surface
Parenchyma-saving and lobe-sparing precise resection
Deep and centrally located metastases can be exposed
Re-treatment is possible with recurring metastases
Precise resection of multiple metastases
Minimal requirement for additional staplers and sutures
Gentle treatment method with minimal loss of blood
Post-operative drainage can be removed shortly after treatment
