Hariyo Ban Program - Panda - WWF

Objectives:
The main objective of this assignment is to undertake feasibility of water supply for drinking and
irrigation purposes, and develop a detail climate smart re-settlement plan to relocate Dheye communities
in Thangchung of Upper Mustang.
Methodology:
Preparation of plan of action with detailed framework of activities, criteria, schedule etc, to be
agreed with Hariyo Ban Program
Desk top study to review relevant literature and other available information on water availability,
land tenure, climate and non-climatic impacts and settlement patterns with demography and
culture
Prepare an inception report based on the available literature, agree on the methodology and make
common understanding with Hariyo Ban core team
Field visit and consultation with local communities at Dheye and other concerned stakeholders
including government line agencies in the District
Undertake water feasibility for drinking and irrigation purposes
GIS mapping of the proposed sites
Prepare detailed plan with clear sketches on type of infrastructure/land use proposed to develop a
climate smart settlement in Thangchung
Consultative meeting to sharing outputs at landscape and national levels
Expected outputs:
• Analysis of demography of population affected by climate change in Dheye village documented
• Perception of community as well as GoN authorities on the existing Dheye situation and planned
actions mapped and analysed based on the existing vulnerability assessment.
• Detailed geographical information on proposed relocation site (Thangchung) studied and
• documented
• On-going development activities in the proposed resettlement site documented
• Land tenure situation in proposed site analysed and recommendations made
• Feasibility of proposed resettlement site studied in light of current conditions and likely future
climate impacts
• Feasibility study on water supply for drinking and irrigation purposes
• Design of houses (local context specific) with costs
• Land-use plan of resettlement area
• Detailed climate smart settlement plan with estimate budget
5. Deliverables
The deliverables of the study are:
• Inception report including detailed plan of action with detailed frame work activities,
methodology to be applied, schedule etc
• Draft report on feasibility study of water supply and resettlement plan
• Final report incorporating comments and suggestions given by Hariyo Ban team
• Other relevant maps, GIS layers, photographs, negatives and other relevant documents procured
or produced under this contract, in digital and/or hard copy as appropriate, with related analysis,
model, and diagrams
