A synthesis of the early life history of the anglerfish 75 additional trips could not be compared with the SWCS and IBTS, because different trawls and larger codend meshes (100 mm) were used, but information was obtained on the vertical and horizontal distribution of mature female L. piscatorius. Inspection of the summed annual length frequency distributions of both the SWCS and the IBTS identified a pronounced trough at a length of approximately 30 cm. Daily otolith increment counts (see Results) indicated that fish in the length range 2–23 cm were approximately 9 months old and it was therefore assumed that all fish measuring
