Bremen, from which they plan to sail to<br />
Texas (to America). This fact is worth<br />
mentioning because, as is known, Slavic<br />
people are so attached to their native<br />
land that their emigration is unusual.^^<br />
When the Silesians reached Bremen, they boarded<br />
the bark Weser on which they sailed to Galveston.<br />

vessel had made numerous trips between Bremen and Galveston,<br />
making the journey at least as early as 1843.<br />
Completing<br />
the crossing in about nine weeks, the Weser arrived in<br />
Galveston on December 3, 1854, docking at the Merchant's<br />
Wharf.-^^<br />
The founders of the first Polish colony in America<br />
had arrived in the New World.<br />
