Complications<br />

I. Amoebic colitis:<br />

• Fulminant or necrotizing colitis.<br />

• Toxic megacolon.<br />

• Amoeboma.<br />

• Rectovaginal fistulae.<br />

II. Amoebic liver abscess:<br />

• Intrathoracic or intraperitoneal rupture with or<br />

without secondary bacterial infection.<br />

• Direct extension to pleura or pericardium.<br />

III. Brain abscess.
