Mechanical Mounting<br />

Mounting methods<br />

The <strong>ASP</strong>-modules are designed for mounting either inside or outside the acoustic volume of a speaker enclosure<br />

or inside a normal amplifier metal cabinet.<br />

The module mounts parallel or perpendicular to a metal backplane, which also serves as an additional heat sink.<br />

Please refer to the mechanical drawings presented in Appendix 2 and Appendix 3.<br />

Recommended screws<br />

Mounting slots that interface to 3mm thread forming screws are built into the aluminum extrusion. The table<br />

below states the number of screws necessary to withstand shocks of up to 70G. Since the perpendicular<br />

mounting method only holds the module to the backplane by one mounting slot, never mount the module this<br />

way without adding an aluminum brace between the back plane and the unused mounting slot on the opposite<br />

side. The slot used for perpendicular mounting in the backplane should always be the one located at the power<br />

transistors mounting shelf, since this is the point where the most heat is dissipated and therefore where the<br />

lowest thermal resistance to ambient should be.<br />

The screws should be distributed evenly throughout the length of the slot.<br />

Recommend screw type:<br />

EJOT PT Screw type DG 30 x yy WN aaaa KO<br />

Where yy defines the length of the screw<br />

aaaa defines the head type and type of recess.<br />

It is very important that attention is paid to the length of the screw, as the strength of the joint is very sensitive<br />

to proper screw length. We recommend that you choose a screw that will sink minimum 4 mm. and maximum 5<br />

mm. into the profile slot.<br />
