ABOUT THE HEAD COACH<br />

SCOTT RIGGLE<br />

Scott Riggle begins his 13th<br />

year with the Tigers. The<br />

team has compiled a 271-112<br />

record in his first 12 years,<br />

and his career coaching<br />

record stands at 553-182.<br />

<strong>DePauw</strong> earned a trip to the<br />

NCAA national championships<br />

in 2001, 2003, 2005,<br />

2006, 2007, 2008, 2009,<br />

2010, 2011 and 2012, and<br />

advanced to the quarterfinal round in 2003 and 2006.<br />

They finished 2006 ranked 5th in the nation and 1st in the<br />

region. The 2003 squad broke the previous school record<br />

of 20 wins in a season and finished with a mark of 25-4.<br />

Riggle has been a certified teaching professional,<br />

licensed by the United States Professional Tennis Registry,<br />

for 26 years. He has also coached the <strong>University</strong> of<br />

Indianapolis men’s team, the Columbus (Ind.) North High<br />

School girls’ team, and the Columbus (Ind.) East High<br />

School boys’ team. He has enjoyed success as a player<br />

as well, finishing 1996 and 1998 as the top-ranked men’s<br />

singles player in the Central Indiana Tennis Association.<br />

He finished 2002 ranked first in 35 and over doubles in<br />

Central Indiana. He holds a B.A. and an M.A. in English<br />

from the <strong>University</strong> of Indianapolis, where he earned<br />

recognition as a first team academic all-American every<br />

year of his collegiate career.<br />

Riggle coached Liz Bondi to <strong>DePauw</strong>’s first NCAA<br />

singles championship in the spring of 2007. In the fall of<br />

2004, Bondi and partner Elizabeth Steele became the<br />

first representatives in the history of Division III to win<br />

the Small College Super Bowl, a feat which earned them<br />

a trip to the Division I indoor national championships.<br />

<strong>DePauw</strong> provides its 2,350 undergraduate students<br />

with a rigorous academic environment and a studentto-faculty<br />

ratio of 10-to-1. Students gain leadership<br />

experience through a wide range of extracurricular opportunities<br />

in small, self-governing living units, studentrun<br />

organizations, intercollegiate athletics, numerous<br />

productions and ensembles in the performing arts, and<br />

The <strong>University</strong> sponsors 23 varsity sports (12 for<br />

women and 11 for men) and is a member of the National<br />

Collegiate Athletic Association’s Division III. <strong>DePauw</strong>’s<br />

athletic teams compete in the North Coast Athletic Conference<br />

ABOUT THE <strong>CAMP</strong><br />

• Head coach Scott Riggle and assistant coach Andrew<br />

Gregory are involved in every instructional session and<br />

competition.<br />

• Our staff is comprised of the coaches and players from<br />

<strong>DePauw</strong>’s nationally-ranked men’s and women’s teams<br />

as well as other highly qualified coaches from the area.<br />

• The student/instructor ratio is 4:1.<br />

• Our instructors are trained to impart sound fundamentals<br />

and tactics, teach advanced techniques and strategy,<br />

and emphasize hard work, concentration, and<br />

sportsmanship in a positive environment that allows<br />

students to learn and improve while having fun.<br />

• Students will compete in a variety of settings,<br />

including events such as individual matches, team<br />

matches within the camp, and team matches against<br />

other area programs.<br />

• Individualized instruction will be available to all<br />

students.<br />

• <strong>University</strong> dietitians plan all meals in a food court<br />

style service that caters to a variety of appetites.<br />

• Dormitories are continuously supervised.<br />

• On Saturday we will conduct an end-of-camp<br />

ceremony with awards and certificates presented.<br />

Parents are encouraged to attend.<br />

• Each student will receive a <strong>DePauw</strong> <strong>University</strong> tennis<br />

camp t-shirt.<br />

• Each student will receive an individualized evaluation<br />

and workout sheet to take home that includes advice,<br />

goals, and other thoughts tailored to the student.<br />

ANDREW GREGORY, Assistant Coach<br />

Andrew Gregory begins his third season as assistant tennis<br />

coach at <strong>DePauw</strong> and his first summer as co-director<br />

of the Tiger Tennis Camp. Coach Gregory was a member<br />

of the NCCAA (National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association)<br />

National Championship tennis team at Olivet<br />

Nazarene <strong>University</strong>, where he played both tennis and<br />

basketball. In each of his four years, both the tennis and<br />

the basketball teams earned NAIA national rankings. He<br />

was a member of the IHSAA final four Terre Haute North<br />

High School tennis team, where he set a school record for<br />

most doubles victories. Coach Gregory also has worked<br />

for 11 years as an instructor and site director with the Terre<br />

Haute Junior Tennis Association and has been a teaching<br />

professional at the Wabash Valley Tennis Club. He has a<br />

B.S. degree in sports management from Olivet Nazarene<br />

<strong>University</strong> and is currently completing a Master's degree<br />

through Ball State <strong>University</strong>.<br />

Instruction will be conducted at <strong>DePauw</strong>’s outstanding<br />

tennis complex, comprised of nine outdoor hard<br />

courts, three of which are lighted, and six indoor hard<br />

courts. <strong>DePauw</strong>’s other athletic facilities, including the<br />

supervised swimming pool, will also be available to all<br />

campers.<br />
