AUSTRALIA DAY AWARDS<br />
Australia Day Awards for Citizen <strong>of</strong> the Year, Young Citizen <strong>of</strong> the Year and<br />
Community Event <strong>of</strong> the Year are presented at community events held on<br />
Australia Day. Nominations are called in mid September/early October<br />
for the four Wards and will be received up to the last week in October/<br />
first week in November (Check at <strong>Council</strong> <strong>of</strong>fices or <strong>Council</strong>’s website for<br />
the closing date). Nomination forms are available from the <strong>Council</strong> <strong>of</strong>fices<br />

month commencing at 1.00 pm in the <strong>Council</strong> Meeting Room, Burra. The public<br />
are welcome to attend all <strong>Council</strong> meetings.<br />

and to make recommendations to the full <strong>Council</strong>.<br />

The symbols represent the key economic aspects <strong>of</strong> the area - Sheep – studs,<br />
wool and meat industry; Mine Buildings – mining history; Wheat – cereal crops;<br />
Windmill – pastoral areas and engineering works in the region. The line beneath<br />

DEVELOPMENT<br />
Development Plan<br />
All development applications are assessed against the <strong>Goyder</strong> (<strong>Regional</strong> <strong>Council</strong>) 8892 0100<br />
Development Plan having regard to the Zoning <strong>of</strong> the particular parcel <strong>of</strong> land to<br />
be developed. For further information contact the Development Officer.<br />
Development Applications<br />
All development applications to undertake building work (new, additions, demolition)<br />
are assessed against the relevant building codes and standards. For further<br />
information contact the Building Officer. A development application must be<br />
lodged prior to undertaking the work. Assessment <strong>of</strong> applications can be<br />
undertaken in various stages - Development Plan (Planning) Consent; Waste<br />
Water Control Systems (Sewerage) Applications/Approval; Building Rules<br />

DIAL BEFORE YOU DIG<br />
<strong>Council</strong> is a member <strong>of</strong> the Dial Before You Dig Service. Before commencing<br />
any construction work it is essential to identify the location <strong>of</strong> any underground<br />
pipes and cables in the proposed work area. Find out first with the DIAL<br />
BEFORE YOU DIG service. Underground pipe and cable locations can<br />
be provided within two working days. Damaging underground pipes and<br />
cables can be a costly exercise not just for you but also the community.<br />
