Operating Status Procedures<br />
Baltimore Metropolitan Area: The following procedures apply to <str<strong>on</strong>g>NIA</str<strong>on</strong>g> IRP employees and staff who<br />
work in Baltimore.<br />
The <str<strong>on</strong>g>NIA</str<strong>on</strong>g> IRP will follow the Baltimore Federal Executive Board operating status. Recorded messages<br />
<strong>on</strong> operating status (closings, delays, early dismissals, etc.) will be provided by the Administrative<br />
Office <strong>on</strong> 410-558-8100. Informati<strong>on</strong> can also be obtained from the FEB website at<br />
http://www.baltimorefeb.us/.<br />
Announcements are also made <strong>on</strong> WBAL AM radio and WBAL and WJZ televisi<strong>on</strong> stati<strong>on</strong>s<br />
beginning at 5:00 a.m.<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>NIA</str<strong>on</strong>g> IRP employees and staff who work in Bethesda and Poolesville shall follow the NIH emergency<br />
closure or early dismissal procedures.<br />
Washingt<strong>on</strong>, D.C. Area (Bethesda): Employees located in the Washingt<strong>on</strong>, D.C. area (Bethesda and<br />
Poolesville) are advised to follow the Office of Pers<strong>on</strong>nel Management (OPM) guidelines for<br />
reporting to work <strong>on</strong> time. If a weather related emergency arises before the workday begins, OPM<br />
will provide an announcement regarding the operating status of the Federal Government to the media<br />
by 6:00 a.m., whenever possible. As so<strong>on</strong> as the status is determined, it will also be posted <strong>on</strong> OPM’s<br />
web site at http://www.opm.gov/status/index.aspx and a recorded message provided by OPM’s Office<br />
of Communicati<strong>on</strong>s at 202-606-1900.<br />
