Indoor Season
The indoor season has started! WOW! I just wanted to pass on that I got tons of great comments
on the organization of the programs in track and field, that are being run indoors at TCC. They
started on Tuesday November 6, 2012.
This is the first time in 15 years that we have had so many young athletes at the JD level in our
JD program. Of course, having the indoor facility is awesome! The popular Track Rascals
program is outstanding, as well, and both programs are very well organized. Thank you again to
the coaches who are doing a great job, and to the program coordinators!
Thank you goes out to all those who have worked so hard to recruit in the school system by
holding clinics. A special thanks to the Olympians and the throwers that went with Oleg to the
schools in Kamloops and in Barriere. We have heard nothing but positive feedback. We have
done 12 clinics already this fall and it has paid off with more interest in track and field, and the
club. Also special thanks to Cliff Weathermon, Oleg Bondarchuk, Lewis Levasseur, Bruno
Mazzotta and Laurie Kitamura for doing an awesome job recruiting and bringing kids out. The
letters Oleg handed out at the cross country meets helped as well because parents got introduced
to us.
Oleg and Bruno also have an increase in athletes in the 13-17 year age group, especially at the
Midget level, and we appreciate everyone’s’ hard work. Please continue to be advocates for the
club. These are all great programs and word is catching on in the city. We hope to have more
kids register as time goes on, and even more in January. This all helps to make our club
successful.
Online Registration
Our online registration system is proving to be useful for the many athletes who have registered
with the club using this method. We are trying to find ways to move into using technology to
assist with these sorts of tasks. Using Zone4 for club registrations enables us to provide families
with a method to register using credit cards for payment. This is something that has been
requested in the past, as we did not have the capability to accept credit card payments at the
track.

Van Ryswyk Invitational Indoor Track and Field Meet
The Van Ryswyk Invitational meet is just around the corner. It is scheduled for February 15-17,
2013. Our volunteer coordinator, Dayl, will be contacting you prior to the competition to discuss
ways you can help out. Please be thinking about areas where you are interested in helping, and
be ready to volunteer when she calls.
National Throws Centre
Welcome to hammer thrower Nolan Henderson who joined the Athletics Canada National
Throws Centre in September. Nolan comes from Richmond. Also, welcome to javelin thrower
Mason Kererzti who hails from Victoria. Already they are involved in the club, helping out at
the JD practices. We look forward to seeing them perform in 2013.
Coaching Clinics
Thank you to the folks that signed up to take the Level 1 Clinic that took place on November 2-4,
2012. Now many of them are carrying on, taking the Level 2 Clinic on November 16-18, 2012.
Big thanks go out to the many throwers who participated.
In the New Year we hope to host another Level One Clinic for those who missed it in November.
These clinics are being promoted and paid for, by a legacy left from the Western Canada Summer
Games through Pacific Sport. This is an opportunity that you need to take if you have an interest
in coaching.
Annual Awards Banquet
Our Annual Awards Banquet is on Sunday, November 18, 2012 to celebrate the success of
athletes nominated in each category. Please see the KTFC News as to who will be given awards.
Try and come out and support them. The event takes place at the Hal Rogers Hall starting at 5:30
pm. Hope to see you there.
Tickets are still available to the fundraiser at the Fox ‘n Hounds on Sunday, December 9, 2012.
Tickets are $10.00 each and you must be 19 years of age or older to attend. For tickets please
