Our strong recommendation is for the TGC to reference the position and recommendations of
industry, existing work of other Government organisations, e.g., NEHTA, and also the policies
and recommendations from other Healthcare jurisdictions, many of whom are either moving
towards or have implemented the GS1 System.
The stakeholders recognise that a collaborative approach is both necessary and desirable. As
such, we emphasise our commitment to working collaboratively with the TGC to aid the
development of a standardised medicines identification and bar coding policy that will benefit
all Healthcare stakeholders throughout Australia.
