If <strong>the</strong> unit is already marked with an EAN-13, UPC-A, ITF-14 or <strong>GS1</strong>-128 <strong>Bar</strong> Code Symbol <strong>for</strong><br />

trade item identification purposes, <strong>the</strong> label should be placed so as not to obscure <strong>the</strong> pre-existing<br />

bar code symbol. The preferred location of <strong>the</strong> label in this case is to <strong>the</strong> side of <strong>the</strong> pre-existing<br />

bar code symbol, so that a consistent horizontal location is maintained.<br />

6.3.1.2 Pallets Less than 1 metre in Height<br />

For pallets less than 1 metre in height, <strong>the</strong> logistics label should be placed as high as possible but<br />

not more than 800mm from <strong>the</strong> base of <strong>the</strong> unit.<br />

6.3.1.3 Pallets <strong>and</strong> O<strong>the</strong>r Units Greater than 1 metre in Height<br />

For pallets <strong>and</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r units greater than 1 metre in height, labels should be placed so that all <strong>the</strong><br />

bar code symbols are at a height between 400mm <strong>and</strong> 800mm from <strong>the</strong> surface on which <strong>the</strong><br />

pallet st<strong>and</strong>s <strong>and</strong> no closer than 50mm from <strong>the</strong> vertical edge.<br />
