Halton - M.A.R.V.E.L
Model based Automated Regulation of Ventilation Exhaust Levels
Care for Indoor Air
Intelligent, Proactive and Real Time...
Halton introduces the first intelligent Demand Control
Ventilation system.
Varying exhaust air and supply air volumes based on
appliance usage is only the beginning. The Halton
M.A.R.V.E.L system can be delivered as a stand alone
controller or it can be designed to communicate with an
upper building management system. In addition, Halton’s
M.A.R.V.E.L system will automatically balance single or
multiple hoods operating on one common duct based on
their individual set points, another Halton first.
• Halton M.A.R.V.E.L will reduce energy usage from
15% to 50% depending on hours of operation and
variability of cooking process.
• Multiple infrared cooking activity sensor readings
are translated to specific calculation algorithm for
the appliances and respond proactively to change in
cooking status adjusting exhaust and supply rates
accordingly.
• Remote via the internet system monitoring and
control.
• Add on inputs allow for monitoring of other critical
systems such as freezer and cooler temperature,
compressor cycling etc.
Benefits & Features:
Generic system that can be used with any hood or
cooking appliance
Minimizes the use of outside air when heating or
cooling is required.
Adjust hood exhaust airflow depending on appliance
status and building energy model.
Kitchen exhaust fans will automatically start when
appliances are switched on and stop as soon
as cooking appliances cool down. Manual or on
schedule start/stop are also available.
System automatically detects and sends warning
signal if exhaust hood is operated without a filter or
filters are clogged and need to be cleaned.
Two approaches
Generic – working with all hoods and appliances
Customized – appliance specific for chain
accounts
The MC8 Controller is the heart of the Halton M.A.R.V.E.L system. Each controller features
22 inputs/outputs and can be used as master or slave in an RS-485 network of up to 32
controllers. The optional web card allows communication with the internet, LAN, WAN or
RS-232 interfaces.
The MC8 Controller is designed to collect real time information and to implement various
automation control algorithms. Principal among these is responding to the infrared sensor(s)
and duct temperature sensor to measure changes in cooking status and adjusting exhaust
airflows according to demand.
The MC8 Controller may be utilized as a stand alone system or as part of a network of
controllers.
• Various set point types can be changed remotely
• Archiving of data in the controllers non-volatile memory
• Optional output of information via the internet to PDA or PC
via RS232C, CDMA/GPRS wireless and/or Ethernet
