When <strong>Hartford</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong> introduced this state-<strong>of</strong>-the art teaching robot for robotic surgeries last year,<br />
it became one <strong>of</strong> three hospitals in the U.S.—and the only hospital in New England—to use such a system.<br />
Similar to a ‘co-pilot’ option on an aircraft, the system enables a physician to co-perform robotic surgery<br />
on complex cases with another physician. “With the teaching robot, we have the opportunity to affect<br />
patient care further by training more surgeons to perform these minimally-invasive procedures,”<br />
said Dr. Joseph Wagner, Director <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Hospital</strong>’s Robotic Surgical Program.<br />
