Will the Inspector of Stores be good enough to fix the amounts to be charged against the Corps referred to in annexed claims for deficiencies of
property referred to at the end of the certificate in each case – Lieut-Col. Moule for Inspector Militia & Volunteers 22 May 1872.
Captain Lockett informs us that the books belonging to the Fern Ground Volunteers were destroyed by fire when the saw mill premises were burnt
down, consequently the record of Company Parades is lost… [Fire at Fern Ground Saw Mills 31 Mar 1872]
Col. Moule, You will observe by Col. Reader’s memo that the record book of this Corps has been lost by fire. This should have been reported at
the time and another would have been supplied. I think the claim may pass as all are qualified except seven men (x) who want only one parade
