<strong>Program</strong> <strong>Description</strong><br />

The <strong>Harford</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Public</strong> <strong>Schools</strong> (HCPS) Middle School Summer <strong>Program</strong> engages incoming sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth grade students in reading and<br />

mathematics instruction on a daily basis using the Summer Success curriculum. Key elements of the Summer Success: Math and Reading programs include blending a variety of<br />

activities to assist students with reading and mathematics. In addition, HCPS provides supplemental instructional activities to enhance the Summer Success: Math and<br />

Reading curricula while providing optimal opportunities for maximum student engagement.<br />

Teacher Requirements<br />

Teachers are required to teach 19 days, during the hours of 7:15-11:45 and attend paid professional development.<br />

Summer school instructors should not schedule vacation time on any of these dates.<br />

Notification of Offer:<br />

Once candidates have been selected, offers will be made via email. Human Resources will notify selected candidates in April.<br />

Please note that final staffing is based upon a 13:1 ratio. Any grade level(s) not meeting this student to teacher ratio may be required to teach reading and mathematics and/or multiple grade levels.<br />
