Program Description
The Harford County Public Schools (HCPS) Middle School Summer Program engages incoming sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth grade students in reading and
mathematics instruction on a daily basis using the Summer Success curriculum. Key elements of the Summer Success: Math and Reading programs include blending a variety of
activities to assist students with reading and mathematics. In addition, HCPS provides supplemental instructional activities to enhance the Summer Success: Math and
Reading curricula while providing optimal opportunities for maximum student engagement.

Teacher Requirements
Teachers are required to teach 19 days, during the hours of 7:15-11:45 and attend paid professional development.
Summer school instructors should not schedule vacation time on any of these dates.
Notification of Offer:
Once candidates have been selected, offers will be made via email. Human Resources will notify selected candidates in April.
Please note that final staffing is based upon a 13:1 ratio. Any grade level(s) not meeting this student to teacher ratio may be required to teach reading and mathematics and/or multiple grade levels.
