Partnerships
The HEA works in partnership with
educational organisations and HEIs
to share expertise and guidance.
These deliver a range of resources
and outcomes that directly impact the
student learning experience. The HEA’s
partnership working ensures that those
with expertise in areas of common
interest can help shape the future of
the student learning experience.
Higher Education Policy Institute
The HEA has worked closely with HEPI this year, co-hosting a
series of four policy breakfast seminars held at the House of
Commons, which brought together key figures from the
sector to discuss emerging issues in HE. The topics discussed
were: ‘Higher education in a state of flux: facing up to the
challenges’; ‘What students want: markets, quality and
consumers’; the proposed new regulatory and quality
assurance framework for HE; and unfair access and reduced
participation – the consequence of the new arrangements for
access and participation. The HEA also sponsored HEPI’s Spring
2012 Conference ‘What students want – the student learning
experience in the changing world of higher education’, with the
Chief Executive of the HEA providing the keynote presentation.
NUS
The HEA worked in partnership with the National Union of
Students as the Student-Led Teaching Awards project was rolled
out across the UK, after two successful years in Scotland.
The HEA and NUS Scotland continued to work closely on the
SLTAs, jointly running a conference and number of events to
support and promote the initiative. The HEA also sponsored a
student winner of the NUS Scotland Awards. Liam Burns,
President of the NUS, sits on the HEA Board of Directors.
