Chief Executive Officer
The Positive Workplace
So, this is Christmas, and what have we done? Another year older (except for those of us in mid-life denial)
and a new one just about to begin.
But, before we launch off into another year busily recruiting and retaining doctors and allied health
professionals, we thought we’d take a moment and look at what we leave behind us over the last 12
months. And if I don’t catch up with you at the end of the journey, a happy Christmas and a merry New
Year to you and yours.
Nursing and Allied Health Recruitment
Health Recruitment PLUS along with the workforce agencies in other states has been
contracted by Health Workforce Australia International Recruitment Program to deliver
the Rural Health Professionals Program (RHPP). The objective of the program is to attract,
recruit and retain nursing and allied health professionals from city based and approved
overseas locations to work in the non-acute sector in rural and remote Australia.
While the final details of the program are still being finalised by our funders we are
pleased to report that we have already had significant success in matching allied
health and nursing candidates with prospective employers. These health professionals
will each attract retention support to be used to enhance their stay both professionally
and socially in rural practice.
We welcome Danica Foy to the Recruitment team, who will assist Fran Robinson (nee
Austin) to administer the program, so please feel free to contact either Danica or Fran
on nahp@healthrecruitmentplus.com.au to learn more about the program.
GP Recruitment
The time frame for recruiting a GP takes longer these days and AHPRA, AMC, ACRRM,
RACGP & DIAC have shared the journey with us and we thank them for the role they
play in assisting us to get doctors working in Tasmanian communities. There are times
when we could only just see the light at the end of the tunnel, but 2012 will see a steady
flow of doctors arriving to take up positions.
We will contintue to assist with practice advertising and promotion of vacancies,
undertake professional development in order to enhance our skills and resources to
better service our clients, and perhaps most importantly, assist GPs to take a break by
providing them with locum coverage.
Caroline, Sarah, Jason and Lou thank you for sharing the journey with us and hope you
have a safe and happy Christmas and New year break.
CPD and IMG Training
Hard to believe but we are already in the process of planning our next CPD Weekend,
which will be held in Stanley in April 2012. So as the saying goes, “watch this space”.
IMG Training - We have been privileged to host speakers across Tasmania for our monthly
videoconferences on a wide variety of clinical topics this year with presentations on
Ageing, Preparing for Exams, Rashes, Inflammatory joint disease to name a few. I am in
the process of locking in next years speakers and topics commencing from the 7th of
February on the third Tuesday of every month.
