for all three area churches<br />

The brethren somehow sensed<br />

they had gotten more than their<br />

money's worth when they saw the<br />

musicians gather on the b<strong>and</strong>st<strong>and</strong>.<br />

Leading the group was Harold<br />

Rhodes, pastor of Houston <strong>No</strong>rth, as<br />

lead singer. Me. Rhodes was backed<br />

by Cleve Nickerson, Jim Van<br />

Schuyver <strong>and</strong> Gill Rogers on rhythm<br />

guitar. Charles Stephens, a professional<br />

musician, played steel-guitar<br />

solos ....<br />

Playing the piano was Jack Haas,<br />

the "king of country piano," formerly<br />

of Ozone's, a nightclub.<br />

The audience seemed to enjoy it<br />

when Mr. Rhodes waded out into the<br />

children's section with mike in h<strong>and</strong><br />

to allow kids to try their h<strong>and</strong> at singing.<br />

Most of the children were shy,<br />

but Mr. Rhodes found one 4-year-old<br />

. boy who belted out a few bars of<br />

"Tiny Bubbles." He later w<strong>and</strong>eI<br />

Victory Dinner<br />

WATERLOO, Iowa - Several<br />

members of ttie" Spokesman Club<br />

here enjoyed a successful hunting<br />

season last Jail <strong>and</strong> w.inter. They<br />

celebrated recently at a. victory game.. ,,~<br />

dinner.<br />

Eighty-five persons met at the<br />

home of pastor Karl Beyersdorfer<br />

March 2. Card games, relaxed cQnversation,<br />

a keg of beer <strong>and</strong> the<br />

aroma of game being 'prepared stimulated<br />

appetites.<br />

The crowd feasted on pheasant,<br />

duck, moose, buffalo <strong>and</strong> other<br />

game, plus scalloped potatoes, vegetables,<br />

salad <strong>and</strong> rolls . Dessert was<br />

five flavors of homeinade ice cream.<br />

The End of the Dearth<br />

Dick, pastor, announced at Bible<br />

study here March 12 that the Garner<br />

ted <strong>Armstrong</strong> television program<br />

will be aired weekly on Sunday<br />

moming~ here.<br />

This brings to an end an almost<br />

three-year dearth of Mr. Annstrong's<br />

voice on the Columbus airwaves.<br />

Brethren were. listening to the program<br />

from New Orleans, La., Richmond,<br />

Va .• <strong>and</strong> Rochester. N.Y.,<br />

radio station's. '<br />
