Blind and
on his own

COCOA BEACH. Fla . - John
Cracke l is an unu sual young man . He
is compl etely self-supporting, doin g
all his own coo king and clean ing.
That ' s not so unusual, you might
say.
But it is fo r a 26-year-o ld who has
been blind since he wa s 12 . and co uld
only see a little out of one eye before
that.
John works at the Wilway Co . here
as a machi ne ope rator, " ma king
bob b in guides for coil-w in di ng
machine s. " he says.
He got his traini ng at the School
for the Blind in St. Augustine , Aa .
He likes worki ng with electronics
and tape recorders, and for sports he
enjoys swimming and waterskiing.
He likes nearl y all kinds ofmusic and
likes to dance . And he enjoys writing
letters to and receiving them from
other Church members .
John fi rst heard Th e Wo rld
Tomorrow on radio in 1965 and was
bapt ized by Roger Foster of the Lakeland
, Fla., church last March. He
attends church now at Melbourne.

at 619 W. Peac htree , Apt. 9 , and is
proud of the way he can take care of
himse lf. He is also high o n Wilway.

Ted Armstrong telecast in this area.
Rockha mpton is situated on the central
coa st of Quee nsland, and is o ne
of the smaller church areas. with only
45 people.
After so me success ful street stalls.
the brethren decid ed to launch something
a little more adve nturou s. A
plot of la nd on John De Mey' s
pinea pple farm was pUI aside and
watermelon seeds were planted . At
first the seeds grew a lillie slowly,
compa red to the weeds . Later . the
problem of wateri ng them during the
Feast of Tabe rnacles arose , but. in
the end. all the hard work paid off.
On Sundays duri ng Nove mber and
December, the melo ns were picked ,
weighed and roi d. Som e were sold to
fruit sho ps , while others we re
hawked to peop le at the beach. In all.
brethren here have raised $2,000 toward
the telecast for this area . Bruce

Women 's C lub here met at the First
Federal Savi ngs and Loan at Gateway
Mall Nov . 23 . The club was
meeting for the first time of the year .
