The case of VP Idioms

Right-hemisphere aphasic patients perform inadequately with
idioms in off-line tasks, but not in online tasks (word-monitoring,
with idiomatic readings faster) (Tompkins et al. 1992).
Alzheimer patients do access both literal and idiomatic meanings but
they are unable to suppress literal meanings in off-line
comprehension tasks, (Papagno et al. 2003).
