Richard Elen of Brideswell Associates (former Editor of Studio Sound)
explained the virtual world of Second Life, a ‘Metaverse’ with several million
inhabitants. Clubbing happens here amongst other activities and Richard has looked into
the music production and distribution chain within Second Life showing how to
maximise audio quality and effectiveness in this virtual environment. The operating
system for ‘Radio Riel’, working in to the Second Life network, was spelled out with
helpful advice as how to maintain reasonable quality and thus actually entertain rather
than just amuse the participants.
