Introducing Philips EssentialLine LED road lighting
Sustainability
through innovation
The world is currently facing a multitude of environmental challenges. Air pollution,
abnormal weather and the increasing severity of natural disasters in recent years have
led to an increased awareness about the importance of environmental protection and
sustainable urban development. We must all do our part in protecting our world for
generations to come by bringing about reductions in carbon emissions, waste and pollution.
As a global leader in the lighting industry, Philips is working hard to spearhead the switch
to more energy efficient lighting solutions, while minimizing the use of hazardous
substances such as lead and mercury in the manufacture of lighting products. Philips is
at the forefront of using innovative technology to develop efficient, long-lasting lighting
solutions across all applications that reduce energy consumption and waste, while at the
same time enhancing the quality of human life.
Over the past decade, Philips has been actively engaged in the ‘City.People.Light’ campaign
which explores how light can help enrich and simplify the human experience in the
urban setting. The mission of this campaign is sustainability and the re-humanizing of the
urban environment through advanced lighting solutions.
Let LEDs light the way
By adopting a long-life LED road lighting system like EssentialLine for your
city development projects, you can lower your operating costs and energy
consumption, while reducing your city’s carbon footprint. Make the switch to
a more sustainable solution today.
Advancements in LED technology have taken place at an unprecedented rate in recent years.
With the increasing efficiency of solid-state technologies, and the corresponding decrease in
production costs, LEDs have become increasingly pervasive in all forms of lighting applications,
and are poised to become the ‘greenest’ way to illuminate our streets and roads.
The use of LED technology for road lighting has significant potential in terms of its efficacy,
reliability and ability for integration into intelligent control systems. When compared to existing
street lighting solutions, LEDs are more energy efficient, give rise to less light pollution, and are
better for the environment.
Philips is firmly focused on the future, as we utilize breakthroughs in LED technology to
create an exciting new generation of LED road lighting luminaires that fully meet road lighting
standards. Last year, the ClearLine LED system for urban lighting applications was launched.
Now, we are taking the energy-efficiency concept further with the EssentialLine range
of LED luminaires for road and street lighting.
The luminaire comes with four different beams to meet different road
applications: DX, DW, DM and DC. It also comes in three different wattage
choices, for roads of different width and spacing:
96 x LED, 128 x LED, 160 x LED
EssentialLine product range
The EssentialLine road lighting system is our latest response to the call for sustainable
development. Its high system efficiency translates to meaningful savings in energy and cost,
as well as a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming.
The luminaire is available in a variety of beam and wattage configurations, ensuring a safe
and comfortable visual experience in every kind of road application.
The modular design ensures that future upgrades can be made easily, without having
to replace the entire lighting system. Best of all, the system’s long lifespan means that
resources are also conserved in manufacturing, maintenance time and expenditure,
which ultimately results in less waste and pollution, thereby reducing the overall burden
on society.
