Please note, that only qualified personnel are allowed to do these special kinds of work.You can<br />

find advice for the employees and their qualifications at the beginning of every chapter:<br />

� the handling of the equipment is supposed to be done by health personnel,<br />

� the cleaning of the equipment may done by qualified cleaning personnel only,<br />

� the adjustment of the dump iron has to be done by a technician or a person with a comparable<br />

qualification,<br />

� in case of service the demounting has to be done by a specialist (electrician/technician).<br />

� This instruction <strong>manual</strong> describes the red light heater of the Bela company .<br />

� Please read the instruction <strong>manual</strong> carefully before using this equipment.You will learn to use<br />

all advantages the equipment has to offer and you protect yourself and others from damage.<br />

This equipment has been built using the current state of technology and is safe to operate.But<br />

nevertheless there can be some potential risks by using this equipment.Particularly if it is used<br />

by personnel that has inadequate education,or if used in an inappropriate way or is not used for<br />

its conventional use.<br />

For personnel that is working on and with this equipment the operator has to do a written briefing,<br />

based on the basic principle of this instruction <strong>manual</strong>, in an understandable way and in<br />

the language of the employees (FRG:Accident prevention regulation,UVVVGB1§7,2).<br />

Use these instructions to instruct the health and cleaning personnel concerning the function,<br />

service and maintenance of the equipment.<br />

The content of the instruction <strong>manual</strong> can be changed at any time without announcement.<br />

The german version of this instruction <strong>manual</strong> is binding for translations in different languages.<br />

Arbitrary changes or rebuilds of the equipment are forbidden because of security reasons.<br />

In case special problems occur which are not explained detailed enough in the instruction<br />

<strong>manual</strong>,please contact the supplier for your own safety.<br />

Please keep this instruction <strong>manual</strong> close to your equipment, to be able to look up<br />

security advice and important information at any time.

Conventional use:<br />

� The Bela-<strong>Infrared</strong><br />

<strong>Light</strong> serve for heat treatment with infrared rays (IR-rays).<br />

� The Bela-<strong>Infrared</strong><br />

<strong>Light</strong> are made for continuous operation.<br />

� The Bela-<strong>Infrared</strong><br />

<strong>Light</strong> are not nurselings radiant heaters<br />

according to DIN EN 60601-2-21 / VDE 0750.<br />

� The Bela-<strong>Infrared</strong><br />

<strong>Light</strong> are not heating pads.<br />

Transportation and storage:<br />

� For transportation and storage time till 15 weeks are the following storage conditions valid:<br />

Temperature: 25 bis +70°C<br />

Relative moisture: 10 – 75 %<br />

Air pressure: 500 – 1060 hPa<br />

After that the values of the operating conditions are valid.<br />

� Storage only in closed or roofed rooms.Do not intermit the equipment of strong vibrations.<br />

<strong>Light</strong> may be connected on proper installed and grounded shock-proof<br />

sockets only.<br />

� The equipment is made for a system voltage of 230V AC (alternating current),50 / 60 Hz<br />

WARNING:<br />

Do not take anodyne drugs before an infrared irradiation,cause they can reduce the natural sensation<br />

of the warmth of the skin,this can imperil the natural regulation of the space to the equipment.<br />

CAUTION - irritation of the eyes:<br />

Iinfrared irradiation irritates the eyes, even if they are closed. For irradiations in the face area it is<br />

needed to wear sunglasses.<br />

CAUTION - fire danger:<br />

Highly inflammable objects or objects sensitive to temperature, like combs, barrettes and similar<br />

things can catch fire and have to be put away before the treatment.

CAUTION - fire danger:<br />

Do not put kerchiefs, blankets and similar things on the equipment.<br />

CAUTION - hot surface:<br />

Do not touch spots, which are marked with this sign.They could be hot.<br />

Fire danger - minimum space!<br />

Floodlighted objects have to be atleast 0,5 meters away from the radiation source.<br />

CAUTION – the mains separation can happen by<br />

� turning off of the switchers,<br />

� turning the clock timer in the neutral position and<br />

� by unplugging the power plug<br />

2. Equipment and function description<br />

2.1 Equipment description<br />

2.1.1 Tripod equipment<br />

Components:<br />

The equipment is made of the so called U-foot with four rolls, the height adjustable pillar stand and<br />

the turn limited extension and body of irradiation. The power supply does take place via a 2 meter<br />

long cord with shock-proof plug.<br />

Body of irradiation:<br />

The body of irradiation will be placed on the handholds. There are 6/3 infrared lamps behind the<br />

protective grating.The operator control panel is on the side of the equipment.<br />

Operator control panel:<br />

You can find the clock timer on the operator control panel, the selector switch 1, 2 and 3 for turn on<br />

and turn off of the equipment and the fuses.<br />

2.1.2 Wall equipment/Ceiling equipment<br />

Components:<br />

The equipment is made of the bearing, the movable extension, the height adjustable dump iron and<br />

the body of irradation. The power supply does take place via a 2 meter long cord with shock-proof<br />

plug.<br />

Addition:<br />

The dump iron can be additionally adjusted for height stop and elastic force.(Chapter 6).<br />

2.2 Function description<br />

The <strong>BELA</strong>-infrared<br />

lights give out an innocuous short-wave infrared heat radiation below the body<br />

of irradiation.But eyes can be irritated nevertheless.<br />

CAUTION - Irritation of eyes:<br />

<strong>Infrared</strong> irradiation also irritates the closed eyes.If you have an irradiation in the face area you have to<br />

wear sunglasses.<br />

The infrared irradiation, which can also be felt as comfortable warmth in the solar radiation, will be<br />

aligned on the treatment area by lamp reflectors.<br />

The equipment has 3 level of warmth.

3. Use<br />

ADVICE - Service personnel:<br />

The handling of the equipment should be done by health personnel.<br />

3.1 Driving tripod equipment to loacation<br />

CAUTION - Damages on the equipment:<br />

To avoid toppling over while driving, put the body of irradiation in its lowest position before changing<br />

location.<br />

ADVICE:<br />

Please note,do not pass over any on the floor laying objects or the connection cable.<br />

1. Loosen position stop, put body of irradiation in its lowest position and seize position stop<br />

again.<br />

2. Driving the equipment to the location and adjusting both of the rolls.<br />

3.2 Adjustment of body of irradiation<br />

Fire danger – Minimum space!:<br />

Floodlited objects have to be atleast 0,5 meters away from the radiation source.<br />

1. Loosen position stop of the tripod equipment and push pillar stand on the desired height.<br />

2. Use the handholds to panning the body of irradiation in the desired position.<br />

3.3 Electrical connection of the equipment<br />

WARNING - Electric shock:<br />

The damage of electrical parts can cause an electric shock.<br />

Do not connect the equipment electrically and call the service immediately.<br />

1. Control power plug and connecting cable on damages.<br />

2. Plug in the power plug into an approved installed and grounded shock-proof socket.<br />

3.4 Before use<br />

ADVICE - Service personnel:<br />

The handling of the equipment should be done by health personnel.<br />

CAUTION - Fire danger:<br />

Highly immflamable or temperature sensitive objects, like combs, barrettes and similar objects can<br />

catch fire and have to be put away before the treatment.<br />

CAUTION - with drugs:<br />

Do not take anodyne drugs before an infrared irradiation, cause they can reduce the natural sensation<br />

of the warmth of the skin,this can imperil the natural regulation of the space to the equipment.<br />

Irradiation space:<br />

The desired effect will not be reached if the space of irradiation or the time of irradiation is too short.<br />

You can find the right space of irradiation by getting as close as possible to the equipment,but only as<br />

close as the irradiation is still comfortable for you.<br />

Irradiation time:<br />

The time of irradiation should be about 15 minutes at the first irradiation and then continuously be<br />

increased to 30 minutes.

3.5 Turn on equipment<br />

CAUTION - Irritation of the eyes:<br />

<strong>Infrared</strong> irradiation irritates the eyes, even if they are closed. For irradiations in the face area it is<br />

needed to wear sunglasses.<br />

1. Put away highly immflamable or temperature sensitive objects, like combs, barrettes and<br />

similar objects.<br />

2. Put on safety glasses<br />

3. Adjust time of the irradiation on the clock timer (min. 5 minutes / max. 30 minutes)<br />

ADVICE:<br />

Before end of clock timer you will hear an acoustic signal. After that the equipment turns off<br />

automatically.<br />

4. Adjust level of warmth (power):<br />

4. Cleaning and disinfection<br />

ADVICE - Service personnel:<br />

The cleaning of the equipment has to be done by briefed cleaning personnel.<br />

WARNING - Electric Shock:<br />

Pull power plug during all cleaning and disinfection works. Pay attention, that no cleaning or<br />

disinfection liquid drips into the equipment.<br />

4.1 Cleaning<br />

CAUTION - Damages on equipment:<br />

To avoid damages on the enclosure and chrome parts, don't use abrasive and alkaline, acid or<br />

alcoholic cleanser.<br />

� Pull power plug and let equipment cool off<br />

� Clean surface with a light moistened kerchief,if necessary add some soft-gloved soap (dish liquid)<br />

� Remove dust deposit on enclosure by vacuum cleaner<br />

WARNING - Electric shock:<br />

Pull power plug during all cleaning and disinfection works. Pay attention, that no cleaning or<br />

disinfection liquid drips into the equipment.<br />

4.2 Disinfection<br />

Caution - Damages on equipment:<br />

To avoid damages on the enclosure:<br />

� Do not use disinfectant with more than 60 % alcohol<br />

� Disinfect the equipment in a cooled off status only<br />

� Do not use strong alkaline dilutions, acids or pure alcohol<br />

5. Maintenance and servicing<br />

ADVICE - Personnel:<br />

Considering of all security advice the changing of fuses and lamps can be done by health personnel.<br />

WARNING - Electric shock:<br />

Pull power plug during all maintenance, proofing and servicing works.<br />

5.1 Spares<br />

ADVICE - Spares:<br />

Here you can find spares, which can be changed by the operator. We offer on demand a complete<br />

list of all spares for educated and qualified personnel.<br />

5.2 Changing of spares<br />

5.2.1 Changing of the fuses<br />

1. Open cap of fuses on operator control panel at body of irradiation.<br />

2. Replace damaged fuses (see list of spares).<br />

5.2.2 Changing of lamp<br />

1. Remove screws and enclosure.<br />

2. Remove defect lamp.<br />

3. Inset new lamp.<br />

4. Install enclosure.<br />

5.3 Controllings<br />

ADVICE - personnel:<br />

The controllings in chapter 5.3 have to be done by a specialist (electrician, technician).<br />

WARNING - Electric shock:<br />

Pull power plug during all maintenance, controlling and servicing works.<br />

CAUTION - Controlling intermittents:<br />

The operator has to control the <strong>BELA</strong>-Red<br />

light heater annually on the following:<br />

� Tighten of the attachment screws on the tripod equipment according chapter 3.2,3.3 and 3.5,<br />

� Damages on the power line and plug,<br />

�<br />

Forming of the carrier system.<br />

ADVICE - Repairs:<br />

Repairwork can be done by our educated personnel or contact Bela-Servicing. Bela offers further<br />

<strong>manual</strong>s for educated and qualified personnel for parts, which have been marked as repairable.<br />

5.4 Servicing<br />

All models are as maintenance-free as possible. Please report possible troubles to a producer<br />

company or to a specialized dealer, so that further steps can be taken. The opening of the<br />

equipment may be done by the producer company or instructed specialized dealer/persons only.

6. Adjustment of the dump iron of the wall equipment<br />

ADVICE - Personnel:<br />

The adjusting of the dump iron has to be done by a technican or a person with comparable<br />

qualification.<br />

6.1 Adjusting of the elastic force<br />

CAUTION – Installation and adjustment<br />

An instruction <strong>manual</strong> for the installation and adjustment of the iron dump is attached.<br />

Please pay attention to the advices of this <strong>Instruction</strong> <strong>manual</strong> (Chapter I. – IV).<br />

The instruction <strong>manual</strong> of the iron dump is part of this instruction <strong>manual</strong> for the red light heater.<br />

7. Demounting in case of service need / Disposal<br />

ADVICE - Personnel:<br />

The dismantlement in case of service need / disposal has to be done by a specialist (electrician,<br />

technician).<br />

ENVIRONMENT - Proper disposal:<br />

Old equipment contains still usefull materials. Therefore do not give old equipment to the next<br />

waste deposit, but ask your city / local government or car / scrapping place for a possibility of<br />

recycling.<br />

Inside the pillar stand is a spring with high elastic force installed.There's a risk of injury.<br />

9. Time limit for correction of faults<br />

The company Bela lamp fabrication pledges to take over the following costs for removal of all<br />

defects which depend on construction, fabrication or material defects:<br />

Within the first 12 months for the working time and all material costs (without lamps).<br />

The equipment has to be delivered or sent to our service station. Further requirements do not exist.<br />

The time limit starts with the day of acceptance, which can be proved by the bill or delivery receipt.<br />

Due to this regulation the sale contract requirements of the ultimate buyer against the dealer will<br />

not be touched.

ANMERKUNG 2 Diese Leitlinien mögen nicht in allen Situationen zutreffen. Die Ausbreitung elektromagnetischer Wellen<br />

wird durch Absorptionen und Reflexionen von Gebäuden, Gegenständen und Menschen beeinflusst.<br />

a Die Feldstärke stationärer Sender, wie z. B. Basisstationen von Funktelefonen und mobilen Landfunkdiensten,<br />

Amateurstationen, AM- und FM-Rundfunk- und Fernsehsendern, können theoretisch nicht genau vorherbestimmt<br />

werden. Um die elektromagnetische Umgebung in Folge von stationären HF-Sendern zu ermitteln, ist eine<br />

Untersuchung des Standortes zu empfehlen.Wenn die ermittelte Feldstärke am Standort des <strong>BELA</strong> Strahlers <strong>RL</strong>E004<br />

den oben angegebenen Übereinstimmungspegel überschreitet, muss der <strong>BELA</strong> Strahler <strong>RL</strong>E004 hinsichtlich seines<br />

normalen Betriebs an jedem Anwendungsort beobachtet werden.<br />

Wenn ungewöhnliche Leistungsmerkmale beobachtet werden, kann es notwendig sein, zusätzliche Maßnahmen zu<br />

ergreifen, wie z. B. die Neuorientierung oder Umsetzung des <strong>BELA</strong> Strahlers <strong>RL</strong>E004.<br />

Der <strong>BELA</strong> Strahler <strong>RL</strong>E ist für den Betrieb in einer elektromagnetischen Umgebung bestimmt, in der die HF-Störgrößen kontrolliert<br />

sind. Der Kunde oder der Anwender des <strong>BELA</strong> Strahlers <strong>RL</strong>E kann dadurch helfen, elektromagnetische Störungen zu vermeiden,<br />

indem er den Mindestabstand zwischen tragbaren und mobilen HF-Telekommunikationsgeräten (Sendern) und dem <strong>BELA</strong><br />

Strahler <strong>RL</strong>E abhängig von der Ausgangsleistung des Kommunikationsgerätes, wie unten angegeben einhält.<br />

Für Sender, deren maximale Nennleistung nicht in obiger Tabelle angegeben ist, kann der Abstand unter Verwendung der<br />

Gleichung bestimmt werden, die zur jeweiligen Spalte gehört, wobei P die maximale Nennleistung des Senders in Watt<br />

(W) gemäß Angabe des Senderherstellers ist.<br />

ANMERKUNG 1 Bei 80 MHz und 800 MHz gilt der höhere Frequenzbereich.<br />

ANMERKUNG 2 Die ISM-Frequenzbänder (für industrielle, wissenschaftliche und medizinische Anwendungen) zwischen<br />

150 kHz und 80 MHz sind 6,765 MHz bis 6,795 MHz; 13,553 MHz bis 13,567 MHz; 26,957 MHz bis 27,283 MHz<br />

und 40,66 MHz bis 40,70 MHz.<br />

ANMERKUNG 3 Die Übereinstimmungspegel in den ISM-Frequenzbändern zwischen 150 kHz und 80 MHz und im<br />

Frequenzbereich von 80 MHz und 2,5 GHz sind dazu bestimmt, die Wahrscheinlichkeit zu verringern, dass<br />

mobile/tragbare Kommunikationseinrichtungen Störungen hervorrufen können, wenn sie unbeabsichtigt<br />

in den Patientenbereich gebracht werden. Aus diesem Grunde wird der zusätzliche Faktor von 10/3 bei der<br />

Berechnung der empfohlenen Schutzabstände in diesen Frequenzbereichen angewandt.<br />

For inserting of the HST-Anchor you have to use the appropriate equipment(Item no.: 60579/0), as<br />

well as a torque key (45 Nm).<br />

For insertion of the injection solution HIT-HY is the basic equipment HIT-System (Artikel-Nr.:<br />

229155/7) needed.<br />

Please note the following while boring the holes for the srew anchors:<br />

� Slipping away of the boring machine (cavities)<br />

� Color of the boring flour (multilayered wall construction)<br />

Changing fixity of the subsurface (quality of the material)<br />

A possibly existing plaster layer is to keep in mind for drilling depth and insertion of the screw<br />

anchors.<br />

In case there are variations of the above clearly mentioned wall types, you have to choose an<br />
