ALEXANDER WAGNER
• COMPOSER • PIANIST •
ALEXANDER M. WAGNER, Pianist and Composer
Alexander M. Wagner was born on March 31st 1995 and began to play the
piano at the age of five. His repertoire not only includes classical and romantic
works of piano literature but also his own original and imaginative
compositions that have been enthusiastically received by his audiences. He is
now 15 years old and has just completed his first, astonishingly consistent, First
Symphony with the title “Kraftwerk” (Power Station).
Wagner is also a talented improviser, a gift which has become rare among
classical musicians today. He can play tirelessly for hours, formulating and
developing the wealth of ideas that continually fill his head.
In his recent recitals he has played works by Beethoven, Brahms, Liszt and
Gershwin as well as his own compositions.
Wagner is a pupil of the “Regensburger Domspatzen” Gymnasium where he
sang in the choir until his voice broke. Since 2007, his artistic development has
been accompanied by the composer Franz Hummel who teaches him piano and
composition and who calls Alexander, “one of the most talented people I have
ever encountered.”
Alexander M. Wagner has a wide stylistic range, from popular (though never
trivial) forms, to jazz and radical contemporary expressivity which he often
combines with well-known classical works such as Beethoven’s “Moonlight
Sonata”. This, as Wagner says; “well-worn concert favourite” takes on a whole
new cosmos of musical language in his exciting interpretation.
