sp 2 vs. sp 3 hybridisation
• The hybridization of carbon atoms are no
longer pure sp 2 but get some percentage
of the sp 3 character, in a proportion that
increases as the tube radius of
curvature decreases.
• In C 60 molecules (highest radius of
curvature), the sp 3 proportion is about
30%.
