and it is not for ns to question his wisdom, but to study
and learn the intricate means employed by him to bring the
work of his hand to perfection, which all nature teaches i1 the
ultimate design of his power and goodneu. Whatever is, i1
in the order of things, and in that sense moat be right. The
phrase must not be understood as a statement of perfectionfar
from it; nothing i1 perfect in this mundane sphere.
Look carefully into the nature of things, and yon will find
unerring law controlling and directing every event of life,
working out the principle of that law, regardleu of the consequences.
Take the preponderances of life and weigh them in
the balance, and you will_ find aoourate measure meted ont to
every action or thought in human existence. Take the wrongs
you inflict upon yourself by evil doing, and when the inciting
cause is analyzed, you will find that, despite your convictions
to the contrary, the power that controlled you was stronger
than yourself,-you had not suffiuiently subjugated it to
make it subordinate, and therefore you acted in aooordance with
the law of your being; the forces within you striving for supremacy
were working out the principle of evolution, and under
the oircumstanoes nothing could have been ditferent.
The Divine Principle is always showing you the possibilities
of attainment, and you see the mistakes you are constantly
making; if you did not, you could not progress-this is the
beauty of the law. It is a living principle, and constantly
changing, and in the suffering and torture inflicted by it you
behold the threshing proceSA. The system is perfect, but the
work is in a prooeu of evolution-one of growth. It i1 an
order of development indisROlubly linked to time and 1paoe;
thus far and no further is a divine edict, for all things are
evolved-not created with full command of all the powers that
