Dear Colleague,
It is our privilege to invite you to participate in the 19 th National Conference
of the Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology to be held in Mumbai
on the 2 nd 3 rd & 4 th of October 2009. This is the fi rst time that this meeting is
being held in this city.
Surgical Gastroenterology has acquired a distinct identity as a discipline and
has grown rapidly in the last few years in India. In turn the Indian Association of
Surgical Gastroenterology had also expanded with its unique character being
its academic focus. Amongst its various activities one of the main features is
the Annual Conference, which is now known for its scientifi c rigour. We hope
to continue this tradition in Mumbai. The program is being conceptualised to
cover all aspects of G I surgery including Upper G I, Colorectal, HPB, G I
Oncology, Laparoscopy and Liver transplantation.
The conference is being held at the Hotel Grand Hyatt, which is located close
to the domestic airport and has a convention center of high quality. We urge
you to consider the residential package, which is highly subsidized as this will
reduce travel time and facilitate the process of an early start to the meeting.
We propose to have all the events related to the meeting at the venue.
We look forward to hosting you in Mumbai and do feel free to contact us for

About the Venue
The Hotel Grand Hyatt is a fi ve star facility located at Santa Cruz
(Kalina) and is about 10 minutes from the Domestic airport. It
has a large convention center with one main auditorium (Grand
Ball Room) and three meeting halls. The hotel has standard fi ve
star facilities including accommodation, multicuisine restaurants,
recreational & travel facilities and a large underground parking
facility. It has hosted many medical meetings including the Annual
Conference of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology in 2007.

Program Highlights
CME
With the current resurgent interest in safety issues in surgical procedures,
the conference begins with a CME on the theme of “Safety In GI
Surgery” along with a session on “Disaster Limitation” whereby steps to
deal with common but serious and complex intraoperative scenarios will
be discussed by experts.

Two hours per day of edited videos of Laparoscopic and Open operations
(a) How I do it ? wherein 2-3 experts in the fi eld will show critical steps of
