<strong>Thermal</strong> considerations Thermische Eigenschaften In order to function optimally, <strong>GE</strong> Infusion <strong>LED</strong> <strong>Module</strong>s must be attached to a heat dissipation system; this section looks at the factors that must be taken into account when designing such a system. <strong>LED</strong>s must operate within specified temperature limits; failure to do so will accelerate chip degradation, affecting the lifetime and lumen output of the module. The <strong>GE</strong> Infusion <strong>LED</strong> <strong>Module</strong> system transfers most of its heat through conduction; the use of a heat sink allows convection to dissipate the heat into surrounding air. Temperature measurement point A measuring point on the module, T C (see photograph), correlates to the junction temperature of the <strong>LED</strong> chip. In order to meet life claims, and for product warranties to be valid, the temperature at T C should not exceed 80°C in the environment in which the module is to be operated. Das <strong>GE</strong> Infusion <strong>LED</strong>-Modulsystem überträgt den Großteil seiner Wärme durch Ableitung. Durch die Nutzung eines Kühlkörpers kann die Wärme durch Konvektion an die Umgebungsluft abgeführt werden. Temperaturmesspunkt Ein Messpunkt auf dem Modul, T C (siehe Foto), korreliert mit der Sperrschichttemperatur des <strong>LED</strong>-Chips. Als Voraussetzung für die Annahme von Garantie- und Gewährleistungsansprüchen darf die Temperatur bei T C in der Umgebung, in der das Modul betrieben wird, 80°C nicht überschreiten. The tip of the thermocouple must be pressed against the surface of the module as any material or space between the two will result in inaccurate readings; a thermal epoxy can be used. The temperature reading should be taken after the system has reached steady state. The operating temperature of the module will also impact on lumen output. Claimed lumens assumes a steady-state T C reading of 65°C. <strong>Module</strong>s operating cooler than this will have higher lumen output, while modules operating at a higher temperature will show a reduction in lumens, as illustrated in the graph below. % Relative Lumens / Relativer Lichtstrom in % 120 % 115 % 110 % 105 % 100 % 95 % 90 % 85 % 80 % 75 % 70 % Die Temperatur muss mithilfe eines geeigneten Thermofühlers gemessen werden. Die Spitze des Thermofühlers muss innig mit der Oberfläche des Moduls verbunden werden, da jegliche Fremdkörper oder Lücken zwischen Thermoelement und Modul zu Fehlmessungen führen. Zum Befestigen des Thermofühlers kann thermisches Epoxidharz verwendet werden. Die Temperaturablesung sollte erfolgen, nachdem das System einen stabilen Zustand erreicht hat. Die Betriebstemperatur des Moduls hat Einfluss auf den Lichtstrom. Die Lichtstromangaben beruhen auf einer T C -Temperatur von 65°C in stabilem Zustand. <strong>Module</strong>, die bei geringeren Temperaturen arbeiten, haben einen höheren Lichtstrom, während <strong>Module</strong>, die bei höheren Temperaturen arbeiten, wie in der nachfolgenden Grafik dargestellt, eine Reduzierung des Lichtstroms aufweisen.
