Acoustic Gunshot Detection
and Localisation System
PILARw is a situation awareness system for the automatic detection
and localisation of small and medium calibre gunshots, as well as
rockets (RPGs), mortars and anti-tank missiles. PILARw displays the
gunshots origin in grid coordinates and in real-time allowing to
pinpoint the threat.
Two main applications are covered: The ground deployment and the
vehicle mounted deployment allowing operation in motion. Adaptation
to other platforms (soldier, helicopter, fast patrol boat,...) are available
with custom design.
A Complete Product
Range
PILARw and PIVOT systems have been designed
with a particular attention towards modularity,
avoiding single-purpose components.
This architecture allows for system customisation
to meet different operational requirements
with the same equipment.
Coupling with additional sensors and/or networking
of sensor systems is available on
request. Integration with C4ISR is easy and provides
Friend/Foe identification for optimised
reaction.
Threat Surveillance and
Visualisation System
PIVOT (PIlar Versatile Observation Turret) is a rapidly
deployable and man-portable surveillance system,
consisting of a high speed pan-and-tilt turret equipped
with a Day Camera and optionally with multi-function
thermal imagers.
As a stand-alone equipment, PIVOT is an automatic
surveillance system with scanning and recording functions.
The 01dB-Metravib specialists are also involved
in research programs and prototype developments.
Threat detection algorithms for intrusion
detection or border surveillance as well as Unattended
Ground Sensors are in the scope of our
projects.
Coupled with PILARw, the PIVOT processes azimuth
and elevation data to rotate and tilt the turret in the
proper direction to provide in real time the picture of the
threat's point of origin.
Numerical Threat
PIVOT greatly enhances observation, target acquisition
and threat identification capabilities, making it ideal for
a variety of applications and environments, including infantry
units, Special Forces, forward observers, reconnaissance
patrols, peacekeeping forces, security forces
and surveillance of sensitive sites.
Testimony from US Army in External Operations:
"One week after the PILARw training, the
unit had the system set up in an operational
high risk area.
Rounds were fired by insurgent snipers at our
soldiers. The PILARw performed as advertised
and identified distance and bearing of fire.
Search of location resulted in capture of
insurgents and weapons. No soldiers were
injured.
The unit is very pleased with the performance.
They are looking forward to using the vehicle
mounted version.
Thanks so much for getting this system and
training to our Soldiers.
