Title: E-Content for Under and Post Graduate Courses in English
Language and Literature
1. Objectives:
1. To leverage the potential of ICT in providing high quality personalized and
interactive knowledge modules over the internet / intranet for all the learners in
Higher Education in 'any time - any where' mode.
2. To cater educational needs of the students enrolled in external / distance mode of
learning. (At present 30% of the total students enrolled in regular course are
enrolled in 'External / Distance' mode of learning. The success of this project can
be of immense help to these students along with regular students.)
3. To implement pedagogical issues identified through UGC- Research project.
4. E-Content generation through participation of teachers and students of various
colleges and universities of several countries.
5. To prepare SAQs for NET (English) on Moodle and WikiEducator.
6. To convert study material of English (as recommended by UGC) in digital form.
2. Methodology:
The project will function in following steps:
1. Identification of teachers with e-skills and those who are keen to develop and
hone e-skills.
2. A series of Workshops at various places in Gujarat or at Bhavnagar University to
provide guidelines for e-content development, using wiki-tools etc
3. The group of advanced learners from students will be identified and they will also
be invited to participate in workshops.
4. Using 'WikiEducator' platform, e content will be developed by teachers and
valuable input from students.
5. In each workshop, the main theme will depend on UGC’s model syllabus for
English Language and Literature.
6. The e-content on 'WikiEducator' platform will be reviewed by the panel of expert
teachers.
7. The e-content will be tested before dissemination through internationally
recognized tools to test and evaluate course content.
8. Once the e-content is developed and tested, the URLs will be shared with all the
universities of India.

9. This content will have open access and no revenue will be generated from users
(students or teachers).
3. The mission of NME-ICT and NPTEL is

2. … connectivity along with provision for access devices for institutions and
learners.
3. … to bridge the digital divide, i.e. the gap in skills to use computer technology for
the purpose of language learning among teachers and students of urban and rural.
4. … to focus on appropriate pedagogy for e-learning, providing facility of
performing experiments through fully computerized language laboratories, online
testing etc.
4. Time Schedule:

All these objectives of mission can be achieved in two phases as mentioned
below in ‘Time Schedule’:
5. Identification of teachers and students from various colleges and universities of
Gujarat state (and may be from other states also). (Time: 2 months - Jan-Feb
2010).
6. Planning of face-to-face and online workshops of 7 to 21 days. (Time: 1 month.
March 2010)
7. Workshops: (Time: 6 months - April to Sept 2010). (We cannot have more than
24 people in face-to-face or online workshop).
8. Preparing Model for e-Content - this will be the output of all the workshops:
(Time: 2 months - Oct-Nov 2010.)
9. Testing of model e-content: (Time: One Month - Dec 2010).
10. Preparing e-Content: (Time 4 Months: Jan to April 2011).
11. Testing and evaluating e-content: (Time 2 Months: May and June 2011).
12. From the academic year 2011/12 we can put all these material open for all the
students of India and abroad. Launch in July 2011.
