This grant will fund secondary latent transition analysis, nonlinear dynamical systems
modeling, and latent growth mixture modeling of four existing ecological momentary
assessment datasets to identify proximal determinants of smoking relapse.

Evaluation of Learning-Theory-Based Smoking Cessation Strategies.

This project evaluates two behavioral and pharmacological treatment combinations
designed to alter the learning that perpetuates smoking.

Phenotypic Markers for Smoking Cessation: Impulsive Choice and Impulsive Action.

This project tests delay discounting and response disinhibition as potential phenotypic

Engineering Effective Interventions for Tobacco Use: A Translational Laboratory.
Role: Consultant (PI: T.B. Baker and M.C. Fiore). Direct Costs: $7,837,430.
This center grant identifies essential components of smoking cessation treatment
interventions, engages health care practice teams and patients in smoking cessation
treatment, and promotes adherence to treatment among patients.

Hyena Science: Gender Roles in Research and Real Life.
Role: Co-PI with David Vicario. Award: $3,000.
This award underwrote a series of campus events featuring visiting scholar Kay
Holekamp, Ph.D., designed to inform the Rutgers community about gender roles in
hyenas and provide mentoring for women in the sciences, technology, engineering,
and mathematics at Rutgers.

Evaluation of Electronic Diary Assessment Methods among Adults Attempting to Quit
Smoking.

This project evaluated reactivity to ecological momentary assessment among adult
daily smokers attempting to quit smoking with the assistance of individual counseling
and nicotine lozenge treatment.

Pilot Grant Program.
A Pilot Study of a Behavioral Treatment for Smokers.
Role: Student PI (PI: T. B. Baker). Direct Costs: $13,380.
This project tested the feasibility of an intensive cessation-preparation behavioral
treatment involving repeated bouts of prescribed abstinence followed by rapid puffing
sessions among individuals who smoked daily.

shock and in a safety condition.
