Room 101<br />
The great leader and founder of modern-day Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk<br />
stayed at the Pera Palace in 1917 for the first time and from then on Room<br />
101 was his preferred choice. On his 100 th birthday in 1981, the room was<br />
converted into a museum. Room 101 is decorated in “sunrise pink”, Atatürk’s<br />
favourite colour. The room is open to visits and contains the personel belongings<br />
of Atatürk such as his clothes, hats, shoes, eye-glasses and such. Pera Palace<br />
continues to collect items related to Atatürk and those pertinent to the early<br />
20 th century period, including books, magazines, carpets and medals.<br />
