Dear readers,<br />
<strong>in</strong> times of economic difficulty, <strong>Vienna</strong> rema<strong>in</strong>s a stronghold<br />
of bus<strong>in</strong>ess characterised by a high degree of stability and<br />
social cohesion. The city’s specific assets <strong>in</strong>clude a highly<br />
qualified workforce, above-average productivity and a broad<br />
range of <strong>in</strong>ternational tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g centres. The federal capital<br />
of Austria holds top positions <strong>in</strong> a number of <strong>in</strong>ternational<br />
rank<strong>in</strong>gs, such as the annual Quality of Liv<strong>in</strong>g Index and the<br />
European Green City Index. With 9.9 million tourist overnight<br />
stays <strong>in</strong> 2009, <strong>Vienna</strong> also rema<strong>in</strong>s a highly popular tourist<br />
dest<strong>in</strong>ation.<br />
