PRESENTATION OF THE BNP PARIBAS GROUP<br />
Presentation of business lines<br />

With a market share of almost 40% in deposits (1) , First Hawaiian Bank<br />
is Hawaii’s leading bank, offering banking services to a local clientele<br />
of private individuals <strong>and</strong> businesses.<br />
In total, with 11,200 employees, 752 branches <strong>and</strong> total assets of<br />
almost USD 74 billion at 31 December <strong>2009</strong>, BancWest currently serves<br />
some 5 million client accounts. It currently ranks as the 7th (1) -largest<br />
commercial bank in the western United States by deposits.<br />
EMERGING MARKETS RETAIL BANKING<br />
The name change from “Emerging Markets Retail Banking” to “Europe<br />
Mediterranean” reflects the refocusing of BNP Paribas’ strategy on<br />
high-potential countries of central <strong>and</strong> eastern Europe (a region with a<br />
population of 80 million), of Turkey (76 million inhabitants) <strong>and</strong> of the<br />
Mediterranean Basin (160 million inhabitants).<br />
Europe Mediterranean (EM) operates a network of 1,803 branches<br />
(including 785 in Central <strong>and</strong> Eastern Europe, 347 in Turkey, 525 in<br />
the Mediterranean Basin <strong>and</strong> also 77 in Africa, 61 in French overseas<br />
departments <strong>and</strong> territories <strong>and</strong> 8 in the Gulf. The business line has a<br />
total of 5.1 million individual, small businesses <strong>and</strong> corporate clients<br />
served by 28,880 employees. The integration with BNP Paribas Fortis<br />
adds a significant presence in Pol<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> is set to give the Group’s<br />
positions a major boost in Turkey. Europe Mediterranean is also present<br />
in Asia through two partnerships with local banks in China <strong>and</strong> Vietnam.<br />
The new organisation intends to sharpen its focus on high-potential<br />
regions, step up the pace of business development <strong>and</strong> enhance<br />
credit <strong>and</strong> liquidity risk management through emphasis on a multipole<br />
presence throughout the geographies. These networks <strong>and</strong> their<br />
fast-growing client base provide a unique distribution platform for all<br />
the Group’s businesses, including partnerships with Personal Finance,<br />
distribution of structured products produced by CIB, integration with<br />
CIB’s network of trade centres <strong>and</strong> the creation of a joint venture with<br />
Wealth Management.<br />
PERSONAL FINANCE<br />
BNP Paribas Personal Finance: Europe’s<br />
number one in personal finance (2)<br />
Within the BNP Paribas Group, BNP Paribas Personal Finance specialises<br />
in personal finance through its consumer finance <strong>and</strong> mortgage<br />
activities. With nearly 28,000 employees in more than 30 countries<br />
<strong>and</strong> on 4 continents, BNP Paribas Personal Finance ranks as the leading<br />
player in France <strong>and</strong> Europe (2) .<br />
BNP Paribas Personal Finance markets a comprehensive range of solutions<br />
available at the point of sale (stores, car dealerships), through authorised<br />
business providers (brokers, estate agents, property developers) or directly<br />
via its customer relations centres <strong>and</strong> over the internet.<br />
Furthermore, BNP Paribas Personal Finance has made partnerships an<br />
area of specialisation in its own right underpinned by its expertise in<br />
providing all types of financing <strong>and</strong> services geared to the activities <strong>and</strong><br />
commercial strategy of its partners. As a result, BNP Paribas Personal<br />
Finance has become a key partner for retail chains, service providers,<br />
banks <strong>and</strong> insurance companies.<br />
Pursuing responsible growth<br />
For over 50 years, BNP Paribas Personal Finance, via its main trading<br />
br<strong>and</strong> Cetelem, which was created in 1953, has been committed to<br />
responsible lending. Its vision of personal finance consists of making a<br />
sustained contribution to improving the personal <strong>and</strong> social quality of<br />
consumers’ lives. From 2004, Cetelem started to publicise in France its<br />
commitment to four major priorities:<br />
combating overindebtedness;<br />
improving access to lending for as many people as possible;<br />
supporting each customer with flexible solutions;<br />

EQUIPMENT SOLUTIONS<br />
Equipment Solutions, through a multi-channel approach (direct sales,<br />
sales via referrals or via partnerships), offers corporate <strong>and</strong> business<br />
clients a range of rental solutions, ranging from financing to fleet<br />
outsourcing.<br />
Equipment Solutions consists of four international business lines<br />
organised around assets <strong>and</strong> specially designed rental solutions:<br />
corporate cars <strong>and</strong> light commercial vehicles are managed by Arval,<br />
which is dedicated to full service leasing;<br />
Technology Solutions (TS) comprising IT, telecom <strong>and</strong> office equipment<br />
rental solutions is run jointly by BNP Paribas Lease Group, specialised<br />
in equipment financing, <strong>and</strong> Arius, specialising in the leasing <strong>and</strong><br />
management of IT equipment;<br />
Equipment & Logistics Solutions (ELS) for construction, farm <strong>and</strong><br />
transport equipment rental solutions is managed by specialists at<br />
BNP Paribas Lease Group;<br />
Retail & Industry (RI) encompasses rental solutions for real estate<br />
assets, medical <strong>and</strong> trade <strong>and</strong> retail equipment within the BNP Paribas<br />
Lease Group.<br />
Despite the deteriorating economic <strong>and</strong> <strong>financial</strong> environment, the<br />
Equipment Solutions business has maintained firm commercial impetus.<br />
