Job Title: BUSINESS RECYCLING SPECIALIST Salary: Range 10 ($45,697.60 - $63,980.80)<br />

Location: <strong>Cuyahoga</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Solid</strong> <strong>Waste</strong> <strong>District</strong> Hours: M-F 8:30–4:30 with occasional evening<br />

4750 East 131 Street and weekend hours<br />

Garfield Heights, OH 44105<br />

FLSA: Exempt<br />

Executive Director<br />

THIS POSITION IS SUBJECT TO CIVIL SERVICE LAWS UNDER SECTION 124 OF THE OHIO<br />

REVISED CODE.<br />

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<br />

• Develop and implement marketing programs to educate businesses and institutions about the economic and<br />

environmental benefits of recycling and composting.<br />

• Provide waste management and recycling consulting services to assist area businesses and institutions<br />

implement or expand recycling and composting programs.<br />

• Conduct presentations.<br />

• Develop partnerships with local business associations.<br />

• Provide <strong>District</strong> coordination of Zero <strong>Waste</strong> NEO and U.S. EPA Green Venues projects.<br />

• Conduct waste assessments.<br />

• Develop cooperative recycling and contracting programs for small businesses.<br />

• Conduct cost-benefit analyses and feasibility studies.<br />

• Prepare grant applications and administer <strong>Solid</strong> <strong>Waste</strong> <strong>District</strong> grant programs.<br />

• Research the recycling industry, recycling markets, solid waste technologies, local, state and national solid<br />

waste trends, and legislative initiatives.<br />

• Gather recycling and waste disposal data from businesses and institutions.<br />

• Work with the media to promote local recycling efforts.<br />

• Develop performance measurements to determine the effectiveness of program outreach and assistance<br />

activities.<br />

• Assist with <strong>Solid</strong> <strong>Waste</strong> <strong>District</strong> events and all other outreach and educational efforts.<br />

• Develop new programs<br />

• Supervise interns as needed.<br />

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<br />

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, sustainability, business administration, marketing, or relevant<br />

field from an accredited college or university.<br />

• Minimum three years applicable experience.<br />

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.<br />

• Demonstrable ability to analyze problems and to develop solutions.<br />

• Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.<br />

• Valid Ohio Driver’s license.<br />
