JOB OPENING
Job Title: BUSINESS RECYCLING SPECIALIST Salary: Range 10 ($45,697.60 - $63,980.80)
Location: Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District Hours: M-F 8:30–4:30 with occasional evening
4750 East 131 Street and weekend hours
Garfield Heights, OH 44105

THIS POSITION IS SUBJECT TO CIVIL SERVICE LAWS UNDER SECTION 124 OF THE OHIO
REVISED CODE.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and implement marketing programs to educate businesses and institutions about the economic and
environmental benefits of recycling and composting.
• Provide waste management and recycling consulting services to assist area businesses and institutions
implement or expand recycling and composting programs.
• Conduct presentations.
• Develop partnerships with local business associations.
• Provide District coordination of Zero Waste NEO and U.S. EPA Green Venues projects.
• Conduct waste assessments.
• Develop cooperative recycling and contracting programs for small businesses.
• Conduct cost-benefit analyses and feasibility studies.
• Prepare grant applications and administer Solid Waste District grant programs.
• Research the recycling industry, recycling markets, solid waste technologies, local, state and national solid
waste trends, and legislative initiatives.
• Gather recycling and waste disposal data from businesses and institutions.
• Work with the media to promote local recycling efforts.
• Develop performance measurements to determine the effectiveness of program outreach and assistance
activities.
• Assist with Solid Waste District events and all other outreach and educational efforts.
• Develop new programs
• Supervise interns as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, sustainability, business administration, marketing, or relevant
field from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum three years applicable experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrable ability to analyze problems and to develop solutions.

• Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Valid Ohio Driver’s license.
