prize money not collected <strong>by</strong> 8.00pm remain the property of RNCAS<br />
unless prior arrangements have been made with Chief Steward.<br />

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY<br />
i) No exhibit may bear any distinguishing mark.<br />
ii) Only one entry per exhibitor in any one class. All entries must be the work of the exhibitor.<br />
iii) These sections are judged on appearance only, Dummy cakes may be used.<br />
iv) Tulle, ribbon, stamens, wire, tape and manufactured pillars may be used. Commercial containers e.g.<br />
vase permitted in classes 7 and 9. Minimum use of gold and silver paint is allowed. Manufactured<br />
ornaments, (unless otherwise stated) glitter, pins and manufactured flowers and leaves of any kind MAY<br />
NOT BE USED<br />
v) Food colouring must be edible.<br />
vi) Base or presentation board can be any shape but must fit within an area no larger that 45cm x 45cm<br />
square. Any material drape, used in presentation, must also fit within the perimeter of an area measuring<br />
45cm x 45cm square.<br />
vii) Cleats must be attached to all base or presentation boards.<br />
viii) A "Novice" exhibitor in any one class is one who has never won a first prize in that particular class, or a<br />
similar class in any competition.<br />

This section is open to students who have completed a basic course in cake decorating and those<br />
decorators who have not previously entered any competition.<br />

Showground entry is via Northbourne Avenue Gate at the Shell Service Station<br />
from 5.00am on Saturday 26 February. Harvest Hall will be open from 5.00am for<br />
receiving of Exhibits.<br />
Exhibitors must obtain exhibitors vehicle pass for entry to the Showground for<br />
Saturday morning from the Horticultural Secretary or Chief Stewards in<br />
Horticultural Section prior to the Show. This is the responsibility of exhibitors.<br />
Novice-Progressive & Inexperienced Classes: Are intended for inexperienced exhibitors only.<br />
Successful exhibitors may, at any time, be requested to show in OPEN Classes.<br />
Experienced visiting exhibitors will be expected to show their speciality/s only in<br />
the OPEN Classes.<br />

Exhibitors must stage exhibits in Dahlia Championship and Challenge Classes <strong>by</strong><br />
8.30am, all other Classes <strong>by</strong> 9.00am, on Saturday morning. Vehicles to be<br />
removed from Showground immediately after staging. RNCAS will provide<br />
containers for Dahlia Classes and General Cut Flower Classes where possible,<br />
flowers in these Classes will become the property of the RNCAS. Exhibitors in all<br />
other Classes may collect their exhibits from the Pavilion between 6.30pm –<br />
8:00pm Sunday, 27 February. In order to maintain the high standard and<br />
spectacle at the Show, the <strong>Society</strong> reserves the right to renew or remove any<br />
exhibit. Replacements will be made when possible with similar material.<br />
All exhibitors are to complete the application for entry form. This form must be<br />
handed to the Horticulture Secretary and then Exhibitor cards will be issued.<br />
Prizemoney will be available after judging Saturday, 26 February from the<br />
Horticulture Secretary or Chief Steward. Additional awards may be made if<br />

Reasons for any exhibit being marked N.A.S (ie. not as scheduled), or any written<br />

DAHLIA STANDARDS<br />
STAGING REQUIREMENTS<br />
i) All Blooms 160mm and over to be staged one per vase.<br />
ii) All Blooms under 160mm to be staged three per vase (except where otherwise stated for special<br />
classes).<br />
NOTE: A Vase is the container supplied for staging Dahlias - a standard unit is a vase of one variety.<br />
iii) Champion awards are to be awarded only to standard units.<br />
iv) All Dahlias are to be staged with a combined stem and stalk of at least 160mm protruding from the vase<br />
for all types.<br />
v) Decorative classes may include formal, informal or semi decorative types unless otherwise stated.<br />
vi) Cactus classes may include Cactus or Semi-Cactus types unless otherwise stated.<br />

contestants in 2011 Imposé the four Services and the RNCAS Executive will contest the<br />

Each contestant receives an identical Kit at 10.15am. Each contestant must create an<br />
arrangement within the given time. The Arrangement must contain a minimum of 80% of<br />
the complete Kit supplied. Every article in the Kit is to be used in the arrangement. The Kit<br />
wrapping (packaging) may or may not be used. Judging is from the front of the<br />
arrangement.<br />
The total time allowed for this competition is 1 hour 15 minutes (time is given to view the<br />
Kit contents and preparation).<br />

COOKING WITH LAVENDER<br />
The Australian Lavender Industry considers that Lavender should be regarded as a Herb/Spice in<br />
relation to cooking with Lavender.<br />
The judging of the show cooking entries will include points as to how well the entry tastes with<br />
regard to the addition of Lavender in the recipe. A Judge will be selected from the commercial<br />
food industry.<br />
Normal show standards will apply to the cooking entries.<br />
CONSERVES AND CONDIMENTS<br />
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY<br />
Two entries per exhibitor per Class.<br />
i) All jars and bottles to be labelled with product name and class. Label to be no larger than<br />
5cm x 2cm<br />
ii) All entries to be home made and presented in 200g – 250g jars (net weight) or 200 ml<br />
minimum.<br />
iii) Do not seal jars with wax etc.<br />
vii) All lids to be plain – any advertising must be painted over. No cellophane allowed.<br />

contestants in 2011 Imposé the four Services and the RNCAS Executive will contest the<br />
Imposé Challenge for 2011.<br />

Each contestant receives an identical Kit at 10.15am. Each contestant must create an<br />
arrangement within the given time. The Arrangement must contain a minimum of 80% of<br />
the complete Kit supplied. Every article in the Kit is to be used in the arrangement. The Kit<br />
wrapping (packaging) may or may not be used. Judging is from the front of the<br />
arrangement.<br />
The total time allowed for this competition is 1 hour 15 minutes (time is given to view the<br />
Kit contents and preparation).<br />
The Public is invited and encouraged to view the Challenge.<br />

RNCAS EXHIBITION BY-LAWS<br />
1. The Show will be open to the public at 8.30am each day.<br />
2. All exhibits to be on the ground not later than when specified in the schedule.<br />
3. All exhibits must be the bona fide property of exhibitors - No two or more exhibitors shall exhibit co-jointly<br />
unless they are actual partners.<br />
4. All Entries:<br />
a. Must be made in writing on forms supplied <strong>by</strong> the <strong>Society</strong> and be accompanied <strong>by</strong> entry fees and<br />
a self- addressed stamped envelope, unless otherwise directed in entry conditions within<br />
Subsections; and<br />
b. must be lodged with the Chief Executive Officer prior to the closing date for entries as specified<br />
in the schedule.<br />
c. Entries received after the closing date as specified in the schedule, or received unaccompanied<br />
<strong>by</strong> the specified entry fees will not be accepted.<br />
d. Telephone entries are not acceptable, except Horticulture Flower Section and Garden Produce<br />
Section.<br />
ENTRY FEES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE<br />
5. Age for Junior Classes shall deemed to be as at the first day of the Show, 26 February 2011.<br />
6. The <strong>Society</strong> shall not be responsible for the loss or for any damage or injury occasioned to any exhibit or<br />
the property of any exhibitor from any cause whatsoever.<br />
7. The Council of the <strong>Society</strong> or the Chief Executive Officer shall have the power without assigning any<br />
reason to:<br />
(i) Reject or cancel any entry any time.<br />
(ii) Prohibit the participation <strong>by</strong> any person or exhibit in any event or class for which it is entered.<br />
(iii) Cancel any event or class.<br />
(iv) Alter the time at which any class or event is to take place.<br />
(v) Alter the conditions of any event.<br />
(vi) Remove any exhibit from the Showgrounds.<br />
(vii) Alter the date or time for the closing of entries for any section or class or for any particular entry.<br />
(viii) Transfer an exhibit or exhibitor from any class to any other class.<br />
8. Proved wilful misrepresentation of exhibits will not merely forfeit the prize, but render the exhibitor liable<br />
to be disqualified from exhibiting at future Shows of the <strong>Society</strong>. The onus of proof as to the bonafides<br />
will rest upon the exhibitor.<br />
9. The exhibitor enters entirely at his own risk. In case any exhibit whilst on the <strong>Society</strong> Showgrounds shall<br />
cause or be the cause of injury or damage to any other exhibit or exhibitor or to the personal property of<br />
any member of the <strong>Society</strong> or the general public, the owner of such exhibit shall indemnify and keep<br />
indemnified the <strong>Society</strong>, its officers, officials and members from and against all damages, costs, claims,<br />
expenses or liabilities incurred in connection with such exhibits. The exhibitor shall be liable to the<br />
<strong>Society</strong> and its employees, officers and officials for any damage or loss occasioned to any of them <strong>by</strong> the<br />
exhibit or the exhibitor or his agent.<br />
10. The exhibitor shall at all times comply with the directions or requests of the Council of the <strong>Society</strong> or of its<br />
Chief Executive Officer. This shall without limiting the generality of the foregoing apply to the entry, the<br />
animal, the exhibitor, the conditions of the event, the conduct of the exhibitor, the conducting of the event,<br />
the decisions of the Judge and the awarding of the prize.<br />
11. The Council of the <strong>Society</strong> or the Chief Executive Officer reserve the right to adjudicate on any entry or<br />
upon any question in dispute or doubt and to make any determination upon any matter whether covered<br />
<strong>by</strong> the conditions of entry or not and the decision so made shall be final and binding and the <strong>Society</strong> shall<br />
there<strong>by</strong> have sole and absolute control of all matters affecting the conduct of the Show and the exhibits<br />
and exhibitors. There shall be no right of appeal to any court of law or other body from any decision made<br />
<strong>by</strong> the Council of the <strong>Society</strong> or the Chief Executive Officer.<br />
12. If, in the opinion of the Judges, an exhibit is improperly classed, it may be removed <strong>by</strong> the stewards and<br />
placed in its proper class. If the exhibitor objects to such removal, the exhibit may be disqualified.<br />

13. OFFENSIVE BEHAVIOUR:<br />
All persons causing annoyance <strong>by</strong>;<br />
a. Making loud comments, or <strong>by</strong> other offensive behaviour, on the decisions of Judges, Stewards or<br />
other officials; or<br />
b. The use of swearing or foul language will after being cautioned <strong>by</strong> a member of Council or Chief<br />
Executive Officer, be expelled from the ground and if a competitor, be liable for disqualification<br />
and forfeiture of any prize money won.<br />
14. The use of loud speakers and radio broadcast appliances of every description shall be permitted only<br />
with the written authority of the Chief Executive Officer.<br />
15. Removal of exhibits. No exhibit other than livestock may be removed from the Showground until 6.30pm<br />
on the 3rd day of the Show, except with the written authority of the Chief Executive Officer.<br />
16. No advertising matter of any description will be permitted on competitive exhibits.<br />
17. Correct and full postal address to be placed on entry forms.<br />
18. Financial members may claim 20% reduction on total entry fees where total of entry fees are $10 or<br />
more.<br />
19. All protests must be delivered to the Chief Executive Officer not later than 6.00pm on Showdays, after<br />
which no protests will be entertained. Each protest must be in writing and accompanied <strong>by</strong> a fee of $50,<br />
which will be forfeited at the discretion of the Council if it considers the protest frivolous. Protests will be<br />
dealt with <strong>by</strong> the Council as soon as practicable after the receipt thereof. Every protest must assign a<br />
definite reason for it being made. The Council shall have the power to confer with the Judges if<br />
practicable in determining protests.<br />
20. All monetary prizes will be paid <strong>by</strong> the Chief Executive Officer during the Show. Instructions on prize<br />
cards must be observed. Prize money unclaimed <strong>by</strong> 12 March 2011 will be forfeited.<br />
21. Restrictions or limitations on the number of entries in any Section may be made <strong>by</strong> the Chief Executive<br />
Officer of the <strong>Society</strong>.<br />
22. Where an exhibitor fails to secure properly any animal and bodily injury or property damage occurs this<br />
may constitute a serious breach of insurance policy conditions and may prejudice claims settlement.<br />
23. If due to unforeseen circumstances sponsorship is not forthcoming for classes in which the prize-money<br />
is sponsored, prize-money will not be paid <strong>by</strong> the RNCAS.<br />
24. CANCELLATION OF THE SHOW FOR ANY REASON<br />
It is agreed between the parties that, if in the sole discretion of the Directors or the Chief Executive<br />
Officer or some other authorised officer that the Show is to be partially or fully cancelled for any reason<br />
whatsoever, the exhibitor shall not pursue the <strong>Society</strong> for the recoveries of lost income or damages. This<br />
complete bar to an action applies to all headings of Law, whether it be Common Law in Contract or Tort<br />
or pursuant to any State, Territorial, or Commonwealth Statute Law. It is acknowledged <strong>by</strong> the exhibitor<br />
that the <strong>Society</strong> has no duty to have a Show in any particular year and that this Clause operates as a<br />
complete defence for the <strong>Society</strong> to any such action.<br />
