QUALIFICATION VIDEOS<br />

All qualification videos (including Cheer & Dance teams, Partner Stunt, All-Girl Group Stunt <strong>and</strong> Mascot) MUST be RECEIVED in the office no later than<br />

January 24, 2014. Team videos are free. Videos must be sent to: NCA & NDA Collegiate Championship, 2010 Merritt Drive, Garl<strong>and</strong>, Texas 75041. Each<br />

team’s entry must be on a separate DVD <strong>and</strong> labeled with school name, division, cheer or dance, coach’s name, address, email <strong>and</strong> telephone number. A<br />

“Video Entry Form” should accompany each video entry (see following page).<br />

• Receipt deadline for team qualification only: January 24, 2014 (no entry fee required)<br />

• Receipt deadline for Partner Stunt, All-Girl Group Stunt <strong>and</strong> Mascot entries: ($25 entry fee) January 24, 2014<br />

• Videos may be emailed to nc<strong>and</strong>avideos@gmail.com (for cheer videos) or nda.dance.videos@gmail.com (for dance videos); videos may not exceed 10mb<br />

<strong>and</strong> should be in Windows Media Player or Quicktime <strong>form</strong>at<br />

Note: AACCA College Safety Guidelines will be enforced for all video entries <strong>and</strong> 5.0 deduction will be given for any safety rule violation. Coaches will be<br />

notified of any deductions for safety guideline violations (cheer only).<br />

CHEER TEAMS: Each cheer team video must include five (5) separate segments: 1. Stunts, 2. Tumbling, 3. Basket/Sponge Tosses, 4. Pyramids, 5. Game Day<br />

Segment. The skills segment of the video can be a maximum of 2 minutes.<br />

• Stunts: Must show at least three (3) stunts in their entirety utilizing as many members as possible with the partners starting with at least one foot on<br />

the ground, <strong>and</strong> concluding with the dismounts l<strong>and</strong>ing in a cradle position or back to the ground.<br />

• Tumbling: Must show at least two (2) skills of st<strong>and</strong>ing tumbling to include as many members as possible (i.e. h<strong>and</strong>springs, tucks, fulls, toe-backs,<br />

etc.). Must also show at least two (2) synchronized running passes with as many members as possible (i.e. h<strong>and</strong>springs series, tucks, fulls, doubles,<br />

whips, elite passes, etc.) where all participating members start <strong>and</strong> finish together.<br />

• Basket/Sponge Tosses: Must show at least three (3) complete separate tosses to include as many groups as possible. Each of these three tosses<br />

must be shown from the mount (at least one foot on the ground) through the cradle.<br />

• Pyramids: Must show at least three (3) complete pyramids to include as many people as possible. Each of these three pyramids must be shown from<br />

the mount (at least one foot on the ground) through the dismount to a cradle position or back to the ground.<br />

• Game Day Segment: In addition to the above requirements, all video qualifiers must submit a 45 Second Game Day per<strong>form</strong>ance. This per<strong>form</strong>ance<br />

must follow the same rules <strong>and</strong> guidelines as the 45 Second Crowd Segment required at <strong>National</strong>s. This <strong>form</strong>at must follow the same rules as listed<br />

under the “Game Day Score” on page 14-15 of the College Rule Book. This segment MUST be filmed in front of a live audience.<br />

MASCOT: Videos must include a 90 second unedited skit. Routine must be per<strong>form</strong>ed to music. No live props are allowed. $25 entry fee. Should follow<br />

the same <strong>form</strong>at <strong>and</strong> rules as stated for the actual competition on page 22 of College Rule Book.<br />

PARTNER STUNT: Videos must include a 45 second unedited routine. Routine must be choreographed to music. One spotter is required. Must adhere to<br />

all uni<strong>form</strong> requirements. $25 entry fee.<br />

ALL-GIRL GROUP STUNT: Video must include a 45 second unedited routine. Routine should be choreographed to music. Groups may have up to four (4)<br />

members - all female. Must adhere to all eligibility <strong>and</strong> uni<strong>form</strong> requirements. $25 entry fee.<br />

RESULTS: The results of partner stunt, group stunt <strong>and</strong> mascot video entries will be available by January 31, 2014, <strong>and</strong> will be posted on nca.varsity.com at<br />

6:00pm CST. Videos submitted for qualification will not be viewed for competition safety violations. A separate video must be sent for this purpose.<br />

DANCE TEAM PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Dance teams must submit one video that includes a 30 second Hip Hop routine, a 30 second Jazz<br />

routine, a 30 second Pom routine as well as 30 seconds of Technical skills (this may be numerous across the floor passes or a choreographed piece). The<br />

technical skills segment only may contain numerous edits. Split screens are not allowed. Speed of per<strong>form</strong>ance may not be altered. All team members do<br />

not need to be in each segment; however, at least eight (8) members must appear in the pom, jazz <strong>and</strong> hip hop segments of the video. All members on the<br />

video must be official, eligible team members at the time of taping. Videos must be current year footage, from previous year is prohibited.<br />

OPEN VIDEO REQUIREMENTS: Dance teams must submit a per<strong>form</strong>ance routine of any style, two minutes maximum <strong>and</strong> 90 seconds minimum in length.<br />

The team must be represented by AT LEAST two (2) members.<br />

MUSIC DOWNLOAD FORM<br />

To ensure a quality projection of sound <strong>and</strong> unblemished reading of each CD, a digital sound system will be utilized for all per<strong>form</strong>ances at the<br />

2014 NCA & NDA Collegiate Cheer <strong>and</strong> Dance Championship. While NCA & NDA do not require this process be followed, it is encouraged to avoid<br />

mechanical or technical malfunctions that can occur with some CDs on the superior quality sound system used for this event. Your music will be<br />

downloaded exclusively for the 2014 NCA & NDA Collegiate Cheer <strong>and</strong> Dance Championship <strong>and</strong> will be discarded following the conclusion of the<br />

championship.<br />

If you choose to download your music, in the remote case a malfunction occurs, you will be allowed to per<strong>form</strong> again. If the malfunction occurs<br />

within the first 30 seconds of the routine, you may choose to per<strong>form</strong> again, <strong>and</strong> will be given five minutes to regroup. If the malfunction occurs 31<br />

seconds into the routine or beyond, you may choose to per<strong>form</strong> again, <strong>and</strong> will be given ten minutes to regroup. If you choose not to download your<br />

music <strong>and</strong> a malfunction occurs with your CD during a per<strong>form</strong>ance, you will not have another opportunity to per<strong>form</strong> again.<br />

own behalf <strong>and</strong> on behalf of the Minor, <strong>release</strong> <strong>and</strong> hold harmless Releasees in the exercises of this authority. I further acknowledge <strong>and</strong> underst<strong>and</strong> that I will be<br />

responsible for any <strong>and</strong> all medical <strong>and</strong> related bills that may be incurred on behalf of the Minor for any illness or injury that the Minor may sustain during the Event <strong>and</strong><br />

while traveling to <strong>and</strong> from the site for the Event whether or not the Event actually occurs.<br />

Appearance Agreement. I underst<strong>and</strong> that Varsity Spirit d / b / a NCA <strong>and</strong> / or NDA from time to time produces promotional material relating to its programs. I<br />

underst<strong>and</strong> that as a <strong>participant</strong> <strong>and</strong>/ or a spectator at the Event that Minor may be included in videotapes, photographs, DVDs, podcasts, <strong>and</strong> videocasts taken during the<br />

Event. Therefore, without reservation or limitations, I, in my own behalf <strong>and</strong> on behalf of the Minor, hereby assign, transfer <strong>and</strong> grant to Varsity Spirit d / b / a NCA <strong>and</strong> /<br />

or NDA, its successors, assignees, licensees, sponsors, any television networks, <strong>and</strong> all other commercial exhibitors the exclusive right to photograph <strong>and</strong> / or videotape the<br />

Minor <strong>and</strong> to utilize such videotapes <strong>and</strong> photographs <strong>and</strong> Minor's name, face likeness, voice <strong>and</strong> appearance as a part of the Event, in advertising <strong>and</strong> promoting the Event<br />

or in advertising <strong>and</strong> promoting similar future events. I further underst<strong>and</strong> that neither Varsity Spirit nor any third party is under any obligation to exercise any of the<br />

foregoing rights, licenses <strong>and</strong> privileges. I, in my own behalf <strong>and</strong> on behalf of the minor, waive any right to inspect or approve the copies of any promotional materials<br />

related thereto.<br />

Third Party Agreement. I underst<strong>and</strong> that Varsity Spirit d / b / a NCA <strong>and</strong> / or NDA from time to time disclose <strong>participant</strong>s in<strong>form</strong>ation to third parties who agree to<br />

the confidential nature of the in<strong>form</strong>ation.<br />

Event Rules. I further acknowledge <strong>and</strong> underst<strong>and</strong> that Varsity Spirit has established rules <strong>and</strong> regulations pertaining to conduct, behavior <strong>and</strong> activities of all Event<br />

<strong>participant</strong>s, by which Minor <strong>and</strong> I agree to abide during the Event (copy of which is listed on the back of this <strong>form</strong>), <strong>and</strong> that Minor <strong>and</strong> I will be responsible for<br />

his/her/my failure to abide by those rules <strong>and</strong> regulations. Minor <strong>and</strong> I have received, read <strong>and</strong> underst<strong>and</strong> the Event rules. Minor <strong>and</strong> I underst<strong>and</strong> that violation of the<br />

rules can result in dismissal from Event with no refund.<br />

Supervision. A Chaperone/Adult (age 21 or over) is required to attend with <strong>participant</strong>s. This Chaperone will be responsible for the <strong>participant</strong>s at all times including but<br />

not limited to swimming, beach activity, cheer/dance practice outside of competition, free time at event site or hotel. Varsity Spirit d / b / a NCA <strong>and</strong> / or NDA is not<br />

responsible for <strong>participant</strong>s’ supervision.

EVENT RULES<br />

General Championship Rules<br />

1. Cheering, chanting <strong>and</strong> dancing will be practiced in designated areas ONLY.<br />

2. Squads / teams must be on time to all scheduled practices <strong>and</strong> per<strong>form</strong>ances.<br />

3. Please leave valuables at home (rings, jewelry, etc.). NCA / NDA will not be responsible for lost or stolen items.<br />

4. Participants may not wear unapproved jewelry of ANY kind at any time during practice or per<strong>form</strong>ances. Teams with <strong>participant</strong>s that<br />

do not comply will be assessed a legality point deduction.<br />

5. Should an injury occur during your assigned practice or per<strong>form</strong>ance times, please contact an NCA/NDA trainer or member of the<br />

NCA/NDA corporate staff.<br />

6. Smoking at championships & events is prohibited, <strong>and</strong> the use or possession of alcohol or other illegal substances is prohibited.<br />

7. Hazing or initiations of any type is prohibited.<br />

8. If attending an event as a resident, all <strong>participant</strong>s must follow these basic rules: A) No running or unnecessary noise in the halls.<br />

B) Always lock your door when you leave the room <strong>and</strong> when you are in your room. Do not prop doors open. C) There will be no<br />

tumbling, horseplay, partner stunts or practicing in the hotel / resort except in designated practice areas. D) Any damage to the room<br />

will be charged to your group. Be sure to leave your room as clean as you found it.<br />

9. NCA <strong>and</strong> NDA fervently encourage <strong>and</strong> support sportsmanship, integrity <strong>and</strong> fairness among all <strong>participant</strong>s <strong>and</strong><br />

coaches/advisors/directors in all facets of cheerleading <strong>and</strong> dance, including but not limited to team practice <strong>and</strong> per<strong>form</strong>ance. NCA<br />

<strong>and</strong> NDA maintain <strong>and</strong> enforce a zero tolerance policy for unsportsmanlike conduct by any <strong>and</strong> all its championship patrons. NCA <strong>and</strong><br />

NDA reserve the right to remove <strong>participant</strong>s, coaches/directors/advisors, or spectators from the per<strong>form</strong>ance venue <strong>and</strong>/or hotel<br />

should offensive or inappropriate behavior toward other <strong>participant</strong>s, coaches/directors/advisors, officials or spectators occur.<br />

In addition to the general rules above, the following rules apply to all Championships:<br />

1 . NCA/NDA is not responsible for <strong>participant</strong>s’ supervision.<br />

2. Participants must have an adult chaperone/coach/director, for <strong>participant</strong>s’ supervision, in attendance at all times during the<br />

championship.<br />

3. Only coaches / directors should approach the NCA / NDA Event Tent to resolve disputes. Spectators or <strong>participant</strong>s will NOT be<br />

allowed to pursue disputes.

Medical Release. I acknowledge <strong>and</strong> agree that such participation subjects me to possibility of physical illness or injury (minimal, serious, catastrophic<br />

<strong>and</strong>/ or death) <strong>and</strong> that I acknowledge that I am assuming the risk of such illness or injury by participating in the Event. In the event of such illness or<br />

injury, I authorize Varsity Spirit to obtain necessary medical treatment for me <strong>and</strong> hereby <strong>release</strong> <strong>and</strong> hold harmless Releasees in the exercises of this<br />

authority. I further acknowledge <strong>and</strong> underst<strong>and</strong> that I will be responsible for any <strong>and</strong> all medical <strong>and</strong> related bills that may be incurred by me for any<br />

illness or injury that I may sustain during the Event <strong>and</strong> while traveling to <strong>and</strong> from the site for the Event whether or not the Event actually occurs.<br />

Appearance Agreement. I underst<strong>and</strong> that Varsity Spirit d / b / a NCA <strong>and</strong> / or NDA, from time to time produces promotional material relating to its<br />

programs. I underst<strong>and</strong> that as a <strong>participant</strong> <strong>and</strong>/ or a spectator at the Event I may be included in videotapes, photographs, DVDs, podcasts, <strong>and</strong><br />

videocasts taken during the Event. Therefore, without reservation or limitations, I hereby assign, transfer <strong>and</strong> grant to Varsity Spirit d / b / a NCA <strong>and</strong> /<br />

or NDA, its successors, assignees, licensees, sponsors, any television networks, <strong>and</strong> all other commercial exhibitors the exclusive right to photograph <strong>and</strong> /<br />

or videotape me <strong>and</strong> to utilize such videotapes <strong>and</strong> photographs <strong>and</strong> my name, face likeness, voice <strong>and</strong> appearance as a part of the Event, in advertising<br />

<strong>and</strong> promoting the Event or in advertising <strong>and</strong> promoting similar future events. I further underst<strong>and</strong> that neither Varsity Spirit nor any third party is under<br />

any obligation to exercise any of the foregoing rights, licenses <strong>and</strong> privileges. I waive any right to inspect or approve the copies of any promotional<br />

materials related thereto.<br />

Third Party Agreement. I underst<strong>and</strong> that Varsity Spirit d / b / a NCA <strong>and</strong> / or NDA from time to time disclose <strong>participant</strong>s/coach in<strong>form</strong>ation to<br />

third parties who agree to the confidential nature of the in<strong>form</strong>ation.<br />

Event Rules. I further acknowledge <strong>and</strong> underst<strong>and</strong> that Varsity Spirit has established rules <strong>and</strong> regulations pertaining to conduct, behavior <strong>and</strong> activities<br />

of all Event <strong>participant</strong>s, by which I agree to abide during the Event (copy of which is listed on the back of this <strong>form</strong>), I will be responsible for my failure<br />

to abide by those rules <strong>and</strong> regulations. I have received, read <strong>and</strong> underst<strong>and</strong> the Event rules. I underst<strong>and</strong> that violation of the rules can result in<br />

dismissal from Event with no refund.<br />

Supervision. A Chaperone/Adult (age 21 or over) is required to attend with <strong>participant</strong>s. This Chaperone will be responsible for the <strong>participant</strong>s at all<br />

times including but not limited to swimming, beach activity, cheer/dance practice outside of competition <strong>and</strong> free time at event site or hotel. Varsity Spirit<br />

d / b / a NCA <strong>and</strong> / or NDA is not responsible for <strong>participant</strong>s’ supervision.<br />

SAFETY, COMPLIANCE, AND SPORTSMANSHIP<br />

1. I underst<strong>and</strong> that cheerleading/dance is an athletic activity, which requires proper training <strong>and</strong> supervision.<br />

2. Audience use of telephoto lenses <strong>and</strong> video cameras including video capable digital cameras/camera phones will not be allowed.<br />

3. Unauthorized users of such equipment will be escorted from our events.<br />
