Dear Cattle Producers,
Welcome to our annual production sale. This
year, there are 20 two-year-old bulls, four
Angus, four red composites and 12 black
composites. We are backing up part of the
calving season on the cows to be more in sync
with Mother Nature. I’m getting smarter (or
older). These bulls were too young to sell as
yearlings.
There will be about 50 yearling bulls, 10 Angus, four red composite and 30-40
black composites. Most of the Angus bulls will work on heifers or well as a handful
of the composites. They have had all their calf shots at branding, preconditioning
and again in December. They have had PregGuard, footrot, pinkeye and
Wortshield and been wormed.
All of our data is run through the Simmental Association. When they do our
weaning data, they take out all of the crossbred vigor growth so that all calves are
equal as if they were all purebreds. The crossbred number (CBV) is the difference
between the adjusted weaning weight as a purebred, and a traditional adjusted
weaning weight that only adjusts for age of calf and dam.
We will have two-year-old pairs again with A.I. calves at side. These are the front
end heifers out of our clean-up bulls. There will also be a few three-, four- and fiveyear-old
cows with A.I. calves that hadn’t calved yet when they were two-year-olds.
They had their breeding
shots last fall and were
wormed. There should be
30+ pairs.
The sale can be viewed
See you April 2nd at
noon. Lunch is on us!
Sincerely,
