These hydraulic safety groups are used in domestic water systems to protect<br />
hot water storage heaters.<br />
They combine different components with the following functions:<br />
- safety to prevent the pressure of the fluid in the storage heaters from<br />
reaching dangerous levels;<br />
- anti-pollution to prevent backflow of hot water into the cold water mains<br />
supply;<br />
-a shut-off function to isolate the mains supply for maintenance and<br />
inspection of the heater system.<br />
The hydraulic safety groups are certified as conforming to European<br />
Standard EN 1487.<br />

Product certification in conformity with European Standard EN 1487<br />
The European Standard EN1487, 2000, under the heading “Buildings<br />
va<strong>lv</strong>es - Hydraulic safety groups - Tests and requirements”, describes the<br />
construction and performance characteristics required of hydraulic safety<br />
groups for hot water storage heaters.<br />
The Caleffi series 5261 hydraulic safety groups have been certified by the<br />
CSTB and Belgaqua Certifying Bodies as conforming to European<br />
Standard EN 1487.<br />
Discharge tundish<br />
The discharge tundish, located at the<br />
outlet of the safety va<strong>lv</strong>e must conform<br />
to the dimension requirements of<br />
standard EN 1487 and discharge<br />
must occur without any spillage of<br />
water.<br />
To meet this requirement the 319<br />
series tundishes are fitted with<br />
special side walls ① which catch<br />
any water spillage during discharge<br />
from the safety relief va<strong>lv</strong>e and direct<br />
it to the drainage pipes.<br />
