adventures - one after the other - as you explore the legendary,
ancient and natural hidden treasures that lie inland from our
coastal fringe.
You will be surprised, amazed and at times thoroughly amused
as Queensland’s Outback unfolds before you.
As a teacher you can use the information to assist and guide the
development of lesson plans that will assist with the Essential
Learnings and their Outcomes.
The resources and sources for each topic are designed to enrich
your planning, pave the way for further learning opportunities and
inspire you and your class to come and experience Queensland’s
Outback firsthand.
Big Red Sand Dunes
Qantas Founders Museum, Longreach
The people out here are warm and friendly and will welcome you
at every stop along the way. It’s only two hours between most
towns and every town has its own remarkable and unique story
that is waiting to be told.
Visit any number of learning centres such as the Cosmos Centre
and Save the Bilby at Charleville, The Woolscour at Blackall,
the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and Qantas Founders
Museum at Longreach. Travel to Lark Quarry Dinosaur Trackways
at Winton or dig for other types of buried treasure at mining
sites from Mount Isa to Yowah. Climb the red sand hills of the
Simpson Desert, scour the river banks of the Channel Country
or traverse the pyramid on the northern Savannah range. There
is nothing quite like it.
