Spiro Meda Collection

Spiro is the first completely upholstered office swivel
chair of the Meda Collection. Its name is derived from
the Latin word spirare ”to breathe” because with its
three-dimensional covering ”Skin”, it uniquely
combines the comfort characteristics of upholstery
with the advantages of breathable mesh. Owing to its
unobtrusive appearance, Spiro can be integrated into
any office. Its design is simple and user-friendly and
can be easily adjusted to individual needs.
Spiro’s intelligent design makes it possible to offer
a good price-performance ratio with high-quality
components. Its materials can be easily separated
and recycled which, combined with its timeless visual
appearance, ensures longevity. Spiro complies
with all key European and American standards and,
accordingly, international standards.
Alberto Meda, engineer
and designer, was born
in 1945 and lives and
works in Milan. Meda’s
cooperation with Vitra
began in 1994. This was
followed by a series of
office and conference
chairs. The Meda product
family is continuously
being enhanced with the
addition of new products.
Vitra has been involved
with the issues of sitting
and working for 50 years.
This considerable
experience is channelled
into the development of
all new products.

The height and width-adjustable
armrests relax the shoulder
muscles.
Spiro is also optionally equipped
with 3D armrests. Their height,
width and depth can be adjusted
and the armrest support can be
rotated 360°.
The organically formed
back shell of high-quality
polyamide provides the
necessary flexibility for
optimum freedom of
movement.
The seat, backrest and armrests
can be exchanged without specialist
tools.
The aluminum backrest frame,
optionally polished or powder
coated in basic dark, ensures
support and stability.
Due to its frameless shape, the
comfortable upholstery offers
optimum sitting comfort without
pressure points.
The three-dimensional Skin
cover can breathe and combines
the comfort of padding with the
climatic benefits of netting.
The integrated,
height-adjustable
lumbar support
specifically and
effectively
supports the
spinal column.
The seat depth can be adjusted
by each user.
The variable adjustment
possibilities ensure comfortable
sitting for users of any
body size.
The individually adjustable
synchronous mechanism with
a large opening angle produces
a harmonious movement pattern
and supports dynamic sitting.

Spiro Programme features
All measurements in millimetres and inches
Office swivel chair meeting EN 1335 and BIFMA
standards. Synchronous mechanism with large opening
angle, individually adjustable to the weight of the user
and lockable in the upright position. Continuous seat
height adjustment via safety gas spring. Adjustable
seat depth.
Back support with integrated height-adjustable lumbar
support. Aluminum backrest frame with optional
polished or powder coated basic dark finish. Seat and
backrest cushion of polyurethane foam, fabric-coated,
Skin quality (three-dimensional spacer fabric). Clima
Seat as an option.
Optionally with height and width-adjustable armrests
or 3D width, depth and height-adjustable armrests with
360° rotating support. Polyethylene integral foam
armrest support in basic dark.
Base frame of glass fibre reinforced polyamide in basic
dark or polished aluminum diecast. Five star base with
hard casters for carpets or soft casters for hard floors
(60 mm diameter). Spiro bears the ergonomic seal of
approval from the LGA Nuremberg.
