currently recruiting a Course Co-ordinator in Childcare at our site in Altrincham to<br />

play a role in our continued success. As our Course Co-ordinator in Childcare, you<br />

will be expected to provide excellence in teaching, learning and assessment to our<br />

learners.<br />

Overview of responsibilities<br />

1. Planning, preparation and teaching on a range of utilities courses within the section; marking<br />

and assessing students’ work, including examinations, contributing to the management of<br />

the utilities curriculum programmes.<br />

2. To be a personal tutor to designated utilities groups and implement an appropriate induction<br />

programme.<br />

3. Ensure that full schemes of work and assessment schedules are in place for each unit of the<br />

learning programme .<br />

4. To assess student development through individual action plans, records of achievement and<br />

student profiles and act on the information as appropriate.<br />

5. To supervise student visits and work placement programmes.<br />

Overview of essential criteria<br />

1. PGCE / Certificate in Education or equivalent, a recognised and relevant professional<br />

qualification at Level 3<br />

2. Relevant teaching and industrial / commercial experience.<br />

RESPONSIBLE TO:<br />

To manage the designated learning programmes so that students<br />

achieve their expected learning outcomes<br />

Head of Department – Early Years Health and Social Care<br />

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:<br />

Co-ordination Responsibilities<br />

1. To agree with the relevant PQL appropriate targets for retention, achievement and success<br />

rates<br />

2. To liaise with the Head of Department and appropriate PQL to ensure that all required<br />

submissions are made to the relevant awarding body<br />

3. To regularly monitor MIS data to ensure all transfers and withdrawals are up to date and that<br />

students are entered for appropriate examinations.<br />

4. To take an active part in the Course Review and Self assessment processes<br />

5. To chair and/or contribute to team meetings as appropriate<br />

6. To ensure that the verification processes meet the requirements of external moderation<br />

7. To liaise with employers<br />

8. To contribute to the Departments apprenticeship programmes<br />

Teaching and Learning<br />

9. To contribute to the day to day organisation, running and administration of the Section and<br />

ensure schemes of work and syllabus files are kept up to date.<br />

10. To maintain student discipline, taking full regard of the requirements of the <strong>College</strong>’s Health<br />

and Safety Policy and Equal Opportunities Policies.<br />

11. To contribute to the cost effectiveness and efficiency of the programmes.<br />

12. To maintain awareness of development trends within teaching practice, and be committed to<br />

professional / vocational development, participating in training and development activities as<br />

required.<br />

General<br />

1. To undertake such other duties that may be reasonably required by the Principal<br />

commensurate with grade at the initial place of work and at other locations within the <strong>College</strong><br />

catchment area.<br />

TERMS AND <strong>CO</strong>NDITIONS<br />

Course Co-ordinator – Childcare<br />

Salary - £32,121 - £33,252 per annum<br />

Working Hours - You will be expected to work such hours as are reasonably necessary<br />

for the proper performance of your duties and responsibilities, normally<br />

35 hours per week. You may from time to time be required to work on<br />

a Saturday, providing adequate notice has been given. If you are<br />

required to work regularly on a Saturday arrangements will be made to<br />

allow you to have two consecutive days off in the following seven-day<br />

period.<br />

Holidays - Annual leave is 55 working days inclusive of Bank and Public Holidays<br />

(based on a 5 day working week). You will be required to use up to 5<br />

working days of your holiday entitlement on days when the<br />

Corporation’s activities are suspended.<br />

Payment - Staff are paid monthly in arrears by credit transfer.<br />

Probationary Period - The successful candidate will be required to complete a probationary<br />

period of six months.<br />

Notice - The appointment will be terminable by three months notice in writing on<br />

either side.<br />

Smoking - The <strong>College</strong> operates a no smoking policy.<br />

General<br />

- The successful candidate will be required to provide proof of eligibility<br />

to work in Great Britain in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration<br />

Act 1996, before employment may commence and undertake a CRB<br />

disclosure if not already completed.<br />
