Community Waste Disposal (CWD), Frisco’s trash and recycling service provider, has created a new
program that rewards Frisco residents for recycling correctly. Beginning on August 19th, a CWD
representative will be checking blue recycling carts for contaminants (Trash, yard trimmings, plastic toys,
garden hoses, Styrofoam, metal, etc). If you are recycling correctly with no trash or other contaminants in
your blue recycling cart, you will receive a Green Sticker and be eligible for a Gift Certificate.
CWD will place a sticker on top of selected carts which will indicate reward eligibility.
Green stickers = all was ok with the contents
Yellow stickers = trace amounts of non-recyclable items
Red stickers = large amounts of trash and contaminants were found
On the green sticker, there will be a number on the bottom. Once you receive a Green sticker, this
number will be automatically entered into a drawing. Winners are randomly chosen every Monday and
Thursday by 10 am. Please go to CWD’s Web Site www.cwd.to and click on Recycle Reward Program for
more details on the program and how to claim your reward.
4 simple ways to
Keep Our Water Clean
YARD
Don’t over fertilize. Consider organic fertilizers which help reduce
watering and mowing requirements.
CAR
Wash your car at a local car wash facility where the water is recycled.
Perform regular maintenance to prevent oil leaks. Recycle used
motor oil by taking it to Frisco’s Environmental Collection Center.
HOME
Use nontoxic or natural household cleaning products. Recycle or properly
dispose of household chemicals at the Environmental Collection Center.
PET
Pick up pet waste from yards, trails and sidewalks. Pet waste
contains nutrients and bacteria that washes into our waterways.
Carry a baggy to scoop the poop and toss it in the trash.
Take used motor oil, paint, anti-freeze, pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizer to the
Environmental Collection Center located at 6616 Walnut St. Call (972) 292-5900 or
e-mail EnvironmentalServices@FriscoTexas.gov for questions.
DID YOU KNOW YOU
LIVE IN A WATERSHED?
A watershed is an area of land that
contributes to runoff to a lake, river,
stream, or wetland. The majority of
the water in Frisco drains into Lake
Lewisville and a smaller percentage
into Lakes Lavon and Ray Hubbard.
When pet waste, motor oil, fertilizers
and other chemicals wash down
into storm drains, they flow into
our local bodies of water untreated,
contaminating drinking water
sources. It’s called “Nonpoint Source
Pollution.”
