SARINGER’S UNIQUE PERISTALTIC PUMP IMPROVED AND CE-MARKED
FOR MEDICA 2011
Ontario, Canada, November 4 – Saringer Life Science Technologies Inc. will return to
MEDICA, Nov. 16-19 in Düsseldorf, Germany, with a CE, Health Canada, and FDA-
approved version of Venowave, an innovative peristaltic pump.
Saringer Life Science Technologies Inc. originally designed this venous-return assist
device to suit the most serious vascular conditions including chronic venous insufficiency
(CVI) and post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS). But since first introduced at MEDICA 2009,
the fully-portable Venowave has undergone notable improvements and certification by
health authorities in Canada, the United States, and Europe.
According to John Saringer, President of Saringer Life Science Technologies Inc and
inventor of the Venowave, who has been working with Dr. Jack Hirsh, a medical
professional at McMaster University and associated teaching hospitals in Hamilton,
Ontario, their experience shows that mechanical pumps have a natural superiority over
conventional compression stocking treatment.
“I recognized the need for a user-friendly, out-of-hospital device that would pump blood
upward, towards the heart; which patients could comfortably wear for hours while
leading an active lifestyle; and which could also provide clinicians with meaningful
results across a range of applications,” says Saringer. And I am happy to report that for
the past two years Venowave has been demonstrating that it is an effective option for
PTS, and other vascular conditions as well as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) prevention.

consequently an improved quality of life.”
Users can discreetly attach the small, lightweight pump directly to their calf by means of
the Velcro strap and a comfortable, breathable leg wrap. Driven by a single rechargeable
NiMh AA battery, the pump applies upward pressure in a repetitive wave motion,
increasing venous blood return and velocity, while patients go about their regular lives,
indoors or out.

Potential distributors and global partners should note that the Venowave has obtained its
CE mark for use in Europe and is also approved for use in North America by the Federal
Drug Administration (FDA) and Health Canada. Venowave production has met stringent
ISO 13485 standards for design and manufacturing.
At MEDICA 2011, Saringer Life Sciences will be displaying and demonstrating the new
improved Venowave along with its other products in Hall 4, Booth H40 as part of the
Ontario, Canada Pavilion.
