Located on the 40th floor of the Manchester Hyatt’s Harbor Tower, this parlor-like lounge features floor-to-ceiling windows seemingly designed to weaken your knees. From 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily, visitors can gawk at the views from high above over light appetizers and desserts, or further jangle their senses with a few martinis from the bar. July marks peak season at the popular Terrace Grill, an indoor-outdoor space located on the sixth-floor rooftop of downtown’s Omni San Diego Hotel. With the exception of spiffed up conventioneers who trail in for lunch, the breezy atmosphere and casual food menu dictate summer threads. Lounge chairs and four-top tables extend from pool to bar, allowing you to lazily savor mango quesadillas, burgers and hearty sandwiches with a stellar view of San Diego Bay. Bud Light drafts and margaritas cost $3 and $5 respectively when you order any food item. When we want pretty urban views with our weekday lunches, we journey seven stories to the roof of the charming and historic Park Manor Suites in Hillcrest. Constructed nearly a century ago, the spacious restaurant sucks in panoramas of San Diego Bay, Point Loma and Balboa Park, while invoking a palette of classic architectural detail. Open Mondays through Fridays for lunch only, Top of the Park is one of the best kept secrets among tight-scheduled business folk, since there’s rarely a wait to land a table. Perched on the 10th floor of the historic La Valencia hotel, the recently renovated Sky Room is home to intimate feedings of top-score Kobe beef, Hudson Valley foie gras and San Diego’s most expensive appetizer, called Stars in the Sky. For $2,100, the latter affords you two glasses of vintage bubbly served in Baccarat crystal flutes, an ounce of fine caviar and four Royal Miyagi oysters, one of which reveals a Tahitian black pearl.
