Through the marketing value of the Alpine Ski World Championships 2013, an
additional climb in annual overnights is expected of 3.5 percent on average (World
Championships Premium – based on internal models) for the next 7 years.
Annual occupancy lies at ca. 30 percent (365 days) or 110 full-occupancy days for
Schladming-Rohrmoos tourism association and is trending upwards.
The German guest still leads the field in the international mix, yet developments
clearly show that Eastern Europe is growing more and more as a primary market.
The number of 4-star beds in the Schladming-Dachstein region grew in recent years
(2000 – 2010) by 38 percent.
According the “MCI Tourism Model), the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships brought in a
primary impulse of around 35 million Euros.
The Schladming-Dachstein Region is one of the top-10 destinations in Austria and is
growing faster than competing destinations such as the Kitzbühel Alps, Gastein Valley
and the Tiroler Zugspitze.
